I've been doing Crossfit for the past 10 months. Before that I did mainly HIT-style strength workouts. I've been on the zone diet and mixing in my own weightlifting and sprints for the past several months in addition to several WODs each week. During the last 10 months I have seen incredible gains in all areas:
-in December I visited Crossfit Toronto and did some muscleups even though I have never trained on rings before
-dropped 25 lbs of fat and I have a six pack for the first time in my life
-max pullups went from around 12 to ~30
-max squat improved by about ~50 lbs
-max deadlift improved by about ~40 lbs
-max power clean improved by ~60 lbs
-I learned how to clean and jerk and have put up 1.5x bodyweight
-max HSPU went from around 1 or 2 to 15
-I can out run all my friends that jog in the 5K and 10K (I go on a long run maybe once a month)
Overall I feel great. The only downside is none of my pants fit me anymore and I had to punch several new holes in all my belts. Thanks Crossfit!
