I just think it would be interesting to see some events that crept into the time domains of a variety of specialists.

But 'Finest of Earth' is the claim made. The trouble I have with that is that no events test that realm of fitness. I suspect the answer is that most CF athletes would seriously struggle at such tests or there would be huge discrepancies in outcome.

Endurance is a huge aspect of human fitness. CF focusses only on one end of the spectrum, but pretty much ignores the other.

Eric, this isn't about me. I'm not competing nor making claim to being the Fittest in the Universe. I'm just a chump. These guys should be able to best me at everything, including running.

Yeah I agree. And I know that's the claim made. I think they should either stop making it or people shouldn't take it so seriously. Then we wouldn't have to have these conversations and we could just have events that were made because they're fun to watch Crossfitters do.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.

The thing that people always forget in this argument is that the main goal is to test "capacity". There's very little difference in the physical capacity for endurance that's tested in the Beach WOD and a 10k run. If anything, I'd argue that the capacity tested in the Beach WOD is greater, as the pull-ups, push-ups and squats actually require a higher metabolic output.

If you were to do a 10k run instead, you would bias the event towards the running specialist. Once you go beyond 20 minutes in any single modality, the variance in the physical capacity that is tested becomes insignificant; at that point, you are primarily testing the skill of the athlete in pacing their self over the longer time domain. This is a matter of experience, not fitness.

I have a friend in Everett who had a chimp and raised it since it was a baby. That thing was a beast in the gym. It could snatch, lift and press anything you threw at it. Amazing animals.
