Great timing for this thread, personally. I'm not a fan of resolutions, but coming off of the holiday break lines up well. I largely took two weeks off of working out, almost none.

On top of that, we now have a rather huge amount of friends and family nearby (i.e. <1 mile), so the holidays were pretty challenging from a nutritional standpoint.

That being said, my wife and I just made an almost completely paleo grocery run yesterday and I can definitely get behind this.

Good thread. I remember being really pleased at how smoothly I dropped pasta, rice, bread - I went from eating them with every meal to never eating them, and it was easy. Sadly that doesn't apply to everything!
It does annoy me that my self-control seems to be such an unreliable thing.
On the whole I eat P&P (paleo and porridge, I just can't let go of porridge when the weather's this cold!) but I cheat often enough to mess up the good results I should be seeing.

That said, Xmas being over and done with is definitely helping. A bit.

I was doing really good with my diet (no grains, no sugar) and then I had a little slip after an intense two hour bike ride yesterday. Half way through the ride, I had a pack of sport beans with caffeine. Afterward , I indulged in 2 peanut butter sandwiches (7 grain grain bread)... I was so hungry. I noticed I had a lot of energy during the second half of the ride yesterday and I felt great this morning during my morning workout. First time I've really had energy since I cut the sugar & grains out of my diet on the first... I've been pretty tired and grumpy. While I wanted to try strict paleo/zone for a month to see how it would affect me, Im now wondering if I should make an exception for post workout meals. I think paleo for athletes recommends something like that, but says it needs to be oats and sweet potatoes, neither of which I really care for.

Ive seen some "low carb" breads out there that are made with soy powder so they are high in protein and fiber. Would something like that work better than regular bread and at least keep me in the Zone... I know the zone allows regular bread but 1/2 a slice is like 1 block so I couldnt even have one sandwich in a meal!

Perhaps, Ill revisit some recipes for sweet potatoes and try using different fruits with my oatmeal and see if I can learn to love them the way I love peanut butter sandwiches!

Maybe look into peanut butter wraps? Maybe wraps have less carbs/take up less carb blocks. Just a guess, I'm not sure. If you really want a sandwich hah it might be a good thing to look into.
Yeah PB is the best :)
Try almond butter!! :D delishhhh!!

HI all! My name is Adam and I am addicted to Sugars and Grains, especially Chocolate and Beer(I know beer maybe isn't technically a grain but its a big problem).

My goal is to ween myself off sugars in the evening and move that to lunch and then breakfast.

Cashew butter is where it's AT! Better omega balance, too.

I'm on day 3 and it's going good. No intentional slip-ups. I instituted a "50 burpee rule" for the 30 days.

Any time I slip (no excuse) I have to do 50 burpees by the end of that day. It seems to be working thus far...

My dry cleaner keeps a small basket of chocolates on his counter. Whenever I pick up or drop off, I usually pop a couple without even thinking about it. Today I had my hand in the basket when I remembered the burpee rule. Dropped the chocolate.. HATE burpees.

Unfortunately, I also forgot that the "healthy" stir fry I ordered today had a sugary sauce. So, tonight I'll be cranking out 50... Damn you stir fry sauce!!

Day 8 here. We added caffeine back after a week, so I feel OK. The first week I was eating like it was my job, but hunger has settled. My "good" diet slid into grains/sugars way too often so I cut then out.
