Re: 2015 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread
My coach's opinion was similar. The Rx Open will look very much like past opens, with the exception of the "gimme" weights. No more 75# snatches or 95# thrusters, or if they're in there, you'll ascend, the whole WOD won't be at those weights. The only movement I can see them adding is bar MU. HSPU's aren't covered in the judges course, so I really doubt those will appear, even though they are video-able and "compact."
I actually think we won't see much change in weights. Look at the "fran" type WODs we've seen the last two year. Both were absolutely killer workouts, even for the best competitors. No way you want that weight heavier. Also I thought 14.1 was a really good test of motor. Even though the weight wasn't super heavy, that combined with the doubles taxed the hell out of your shoulders, forearms and motor. There was quite a bit of strategy to that one, IMO. You couldn't just go balls out for 10 mins. You had to have some kind of pace to it. |
Re: 2015 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread
The Open this year will look a whole lot like the Open's of year's past with one (maybe two) things a little different.
Castro was pretty blatant on why the scaled version. A lot of people cannot do C2B and T2B and DUs etc so this provides them an opportunity |
Re: 2015 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread
Is there a prize for winning the scaled division? If not, I don't see much of a reason for your average joe to sign up since it is basically a donation to HQ. Of course, I thought the same before but now with zero possibility of moving on it seems more blatant.

15.1 Froning vs. Fraser
We must be looking at a high rep and weight ladder. These two strong horses that can move the weight and move it for a long time... This is going to be a real test.. |

Did he change his mind? |

I honestly think no one but Rich knows (and he might not know yet). If he has the ability, which I think he still does, to win the games, why not go for it? That's a nice check. I think as a team member you still have to do the open workouts, no? I'm not sure how that all works. I'd love to see him go out and win the games one more time. But if he goes out there and gets blown out by Fraser then maybe he says, "I'm just doing team anyways" lol |

Could just be doing the open like how Foucher demoed the workouts the year she didn't compete. Since he is the face of Crossfit I have a feeling he will be involved plenty. |

He still has to do the open if he wants to compete on a team, as his team has to qualify. If I remember correctly when he said he was going team he said he still wants to win the open. |

You have to qualify as a team the same way you do as an individual. If he wants to go to the Games his team will have to finish in the top 15 of the Open and top 5 at Regionals. |
