Official TypePad Users Thread

Well, BlogSpot has one... and now that I'm using TypePad I felt that there should be one setup for this one as well. What I'd like to see is the affiliates who are using TypePad to check in so that we can share trials, tribulations and successes using the application.

Here are my new TypePad blogs that I am struggling with: (WFS Links)
CrossFit Koncepts - http://www.crossfitkoncepts.com
Kettlebells Maryland - http://www.kettlebellsmaryland.com
Kettlebell Koncepts - http://www.kettlebellkoncepts.com

Thanks!

Thanks Randy - I hope it will!

I've already got a question as to how I can add the crossfit journal image and link to my weblog! I can't figure out how I can add it to the design/template.

HELP!!!

Michael-
Go to any site that has the journal logo (they were available in basecamp but I don't see there here anymore) We have the blue one but they were available in black and white, too. (you can get the blue one from us at www.rainiercrossfit.com and the black with white writing from www.crossfiteastside.com) right click it and "save picture as" Save it to someplace where you can find it easily.

Now in typepad, sign in, go to Control Panel, Files, Upload New File, browse, and click on the image you just saved (and can find easily, remember?)

It will appear on the list of the left, click the little chain link picture to get the "link" for the image.

You'll use the "link" info to add the image to a typelist (go to control panel< typelists for this, add it to a new list or an existing one,

the title will look something like(including the < and >) <img src="http://www.yoursitename.com/CFJ-125x63-3_1.jpg">

The url will be: http://www.crossfit.com/journal/

and you can add whatever suits you to the "notes" box

save it and then you'll need to move it to where ever you want it on your main page by using weblogs<design<select content and then order content.

DOes that answer your question? Let me know if I can clarify, I'm not very good at this stuff but seem to muddle through it somehow.

Anybody using Google Checkout with Typepad? Having a bit of trouble with integration -- Typepad keeps dumping the values held by Google Checkout after the initial input. Very frustrating. Anybody else encounter this problem?

Never mind --figured it out myself. (Turn off Rich Text editing.)

Hi gang,
The page with the links and instructions to the Journal graphics is here (WFS)

This link, http://www.crossfit.com/cfj-logo.html, will take you to a page where the graphic, link, and instructions for installation can be found.

I've attached a doc that has step-by-step instructions for implementing it in typepad.

Hope this helps,
Lynne

Re: Official TypePad Users Thread

Are you guys paying a monthly fee to use it? The way I read it was they wanted so much for the software and then a monthly fee also, correct? I like Typepad.

Jason Ackerman 12-28-2007 06:46 AM

Re: Official TypePad Users Thread

I believe I only paid a monthly fee.

Does anyone have a checkout/pay now feature on their page? If so, which one and how do you find it? Can you set it up for monthly payments/withdrawls for members? If not, do you use another program for this and would you recommend it?

Typepad rules! I pay a yearly membership, I think $140 auto/deducted from my amex.

There is so much to learn about typepad. I try to read up each day on "everything typepad" about all the options. Great resource!

For anybody looking to add a slideshow or montage to their site, check out the One True Media widget. Easy to use and good interface with Typepad (as opposed to my frustration with Picasa talking to Blogger but not Typepad.)

I think it looks pretty good. You can see it on the upper-left hand side of my site: http://www.crossfitwatertown.com

Lisbeth,
How did you integrate google checkout into the main weblog and not as a typelist on the side? I need to get this up and running because checks and cash are driving me crazy. Thanks.

Get a merchant account with a virtual terminal so you can accept credit cards.

www.bullfit.typepad.com

Ryan,

I made it a separate page. Once you're in your weblog page on Typepad, on the right below "create a new post" is "create a new page" -- create one and then add the code. You can create the page in rich text and save it but before you add the HTML code for the Google buttons, make sure to switch to plain text ("Change the display of this page" on lower right) or you will lose the values inputted on the Google page.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask again if it stymies you. Good luck!

(And Ryan, love the latest entry on your blog -- your words really capture the excitement of being a CrossFit affiliate.)

Lisbeth

Lisbeth,
Thanks I figured it out. How do you adjust it so It will do automatic billing every month or am I going to have to do it on my own?
Has anyone integrated Google Schedule into their typepad. I know Doug Chapman has.

Re: Official TypePad Users Thread

Dale,

We've integrated the recurring payment signup via PayPal. Works great! We created a new weblog, then linked to it via a typelist on the sidebar. Check it out on our site.

One thing we found is that if you use the PayPal encryption links, make sure you set them all up first and complete any editing before saving/publishing. If you save and then edit that blog, the links no longer function. I talked with PayPal about this and the encrypted links are set up that way so that if anyone ever hacks into your site, they can't change the links on you.

We've also integrated Google Schedule. If you click our class and event calendar, it takes you right to our google calendar. Pretty easy to set up as a typelist.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Steve

Dale (or should I call you Ryan again like I did this morning -- sorry! -- must learn to slow down sometimes) -- I have not yet tried the automatic billing but that's the next step. Did you figure a way to do it on Google? I didn't think that was an option but I could be wrong.

Can anyone explain to me how to get the middle of my page wider? www.crossfitathens.com(wfs)
Doug's page for HyperFit USA is what I am looking for, but I haven't figured it out yet.
Thanks.

Hi All,

I'm a new affiliate and wanted to ask if anyone can share an html code on the Pukie icon. As a typepad user, I'm having trouble adding the jpg file of the Pukie image on to my TypeList where I have defined as a Link. This particular TypeList contains all of the CF HQ links to questions like "What is CrossFit?", "What is Fitness?", "CFJournal" (the image is html), etc..

Thank you,
Grace

Grace,

Have you tried using:

<IMG src="(html link)">

I've been able to put up images that were web addresses with this method in Typepad.

I am having dificulty putting a custom banner on my website. I attach the picture but then when I try to save the changes the site tells me that the image does not look like a picture. My Banner is designed on Adobe Illustrator. Any help would be great. Thanks

Do you guys all make these custom or are they one of the templates that TypePad provides?

Thanks
