Given your beautiful deadlift avatar, I figured I could ask you...

That bar just rips up my shins every time I DL. Should I really be banging them up that much? Do you?

Thanks - and keep it up!

Good luck on that upcoming bike race!

I haven't the money to go to any certs right now, and I'm an East Coaster so those are a little left of my stomping grounds. We could do an online challenge, tape the event and post it here. I doubt I'll lose, though, my heart rate actually drops during the squat portion of Cindy. It's active rest ;).

If you don't mind I can field this one since the DL is my favorite lift and one of my favorite exercises.

You should be pulling the bar up along your shins but you shouldn't be trying to rip chunks of skin out. For me, I always wear tall socks when I pull. This ensures a lay of fabric between my skin and the bar. One of the Olympic Lifters at my gym wears tall socks when she is training for the same reason.

I don't mind, but I've posted a reply on your log, so we don't totally hijack Grace's. :)

Melissa,

Aaron is correct, socks will help. Shorts or skorts (not skirts, I hope) and high socks doing a DL can only mean you're a CrossFit chick. ;) Consider those shin scabs as one of your badges but were socks or sweat pants when you DL from here and on. It actually helps move the bar up to almost, if not, a straigth line (the goal in any barbell/olympic exercise). Coach Ripp's Starting Strength book has very helpful diagrams if you can't attend any of his barbell certs at the moment. He explains how your set position at the bottom is directly related to how proportioned the length of your torso is to the length of your legs. I'm pretty sure there is a few threads dedicated to DL's under the Exercise Forum. If not, visit Aaron's thread. He has an awesome coach in CFSC (I think that's where he goes).

Hope you're enjoying your Rest Day.

Sounds good. I'll have to convince my son to help me on that or I may have to visit CF Houston one day. Carlos' box has bad-A warehouse like atmosphere that makes one want to work their hardest! :D

WOD 080329 FGB (again, yey!...one of several favs!)
Row for calories
20# WB
75# SDHP
20" BJ
75# PP
60secs break in between rounds.

Row, 10# WB, 50# SDHP, 18' BJ, 50#PP
30sec break between rounds
Since it takes a few seconds to move from station to station at globo the shorter break almost mimicks the true workout a CF box, I'm thinking.
13,21,20,22,17 = 93
13,22,15,23,15 = 88
12,24,16,15,17 = 84

Total Score = 265
*33 points higher than last FGB :pepper:

Great improvement, I was surprised to see FGB pop up again. I hope to improve too ! :)

Oh and I see you're in the process of getting that full ROM on HSPU's, how exciting ! I think they're the main reason for my improvement in the push/split jerk, feeling much more solid !

Enjoy the rest mijn vriend

Great improvement....I am envious, I hope that I improve that much the next time we do FGB:highfive:
