Explain your graphs to me a little.

I set the dropdown to "(All)." The shortest bar is the West Regional. Does this mean their athletes, on average, out performed other regions? Or does the tallest bar (California) have the best athletes?

On the line graph, you're input is the rank they finished compared to other athletes, right? So the score in the actual event is not used. If someone snatched 225#, then the pound score is not used. Their rank is used, as in 246th place. Right?

Yep shortest bar means the athletes from that region tended to finish higher (or lower, closer to first, let's go with that).

Line graph uses rank, I could have used the score but it would have taken a bit more effort because the data isn't just a number depending on the event.

It could definitely be better if I had the time to really manipulate the data into the best format for analyzing but I thought with rank being in there it could still be something interesting to work at with little alterations needed.

Julie Foucher reports that she had a complete tear of the Achilles tendon.

She posted three days ago about "surgery tomorrow," so surgery has already happened.

I am glad to know that they are really investigating the training records of the team members since they are so specific in the rule book. I am sure the 6th place team is pretty shocked at this turn of events and I hope they are able to go compete!

This disqualification seems a little silly to me. I know exactly what it is trying to prevent and I get that completely. I train on my own as does a very good friend of mine, we would love to compete on a team together but it would be over an hour and a half drive for us each way in order to do so. We make use of the same coach who writes our programming and everything but according to the rules we would be forming a super team. Other than paying a membership at a local gym, how on earth would Crossfit ever find out we were not training together throughout the year ? This rule really only has any validity if you have only teams from Crossfit gyms.

"The intent of the Team competition is to determine the fittest gym. Therefore, the Athletes who represent each Team must train primarily
at that gym for the duration of the competitive season. CrossFit requires that the majority of a Team memberís training days and workouts take place at the Team gym starting January 1. In accordance with this rule, creating an ďALL-STARĒ Team, or any Team, consisting of Athletes primarily training at different gyms is not acceptable."

Seems pretty straightforward and valid: they want the team to consist of people who train AT THAT BOX. Once you go slack on these requirements, you toe the line into people who will simply assemble athletes from anywhere.

You have to keep training logs and evidence. The team from my gym is at a level where they are pretty careful about this. The recommendation is to keep detailed training logs of where and when they train, and also take dated pics and make social media posts/check ins that clearly show what gym you are in. (For example, take pics that show the mural of you gym logo in the background and post regularly). It's not perfect, but this stuff is part of what they pay attention to.

Crossfit Mayhem sort of skirts this as Rich trains likely 80% with Hobart in his garage. I get that they want to find the fittest gym and all but reality is that people in cities will form super teams as best they can (and yes I know this happens). Training at the gym implies actually training at that gym and not just being a member, which, as I eluded to would be pretty easy to do, you pay your fees, maybe do your sessions there, take some pictures, post them up on FB for everyone to see, and fill out your training log. I mean seriously do they want to see if you follow the gym's program etc ? That is just ridiculous.

And yes, I was solicited this season to be on a team at a local box here. Same rules though, had to start training there January 1 and actually just attend classes, which I really just do not have time for. I like training at home and doing my own thing, I may reconsider at a later date but for this year I knew we actually did not stand a chance of actually qualifying. I guess January 1 seems like a good cutoff, but it most certainly gives people time to rally a team. I know there are some unaffiliated teams that all train at the same gym as well, not sure how they would police that. Most notably would be Opex Red.

I guess for going to the Games they want to keep it on the up and up which is a good thing.

So really it's just the fittest team who trains toghpether from Jan 1 till regionals. After that whats the requirement? Or maybe Jan 1 till the games.
