Re: 2015 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

I think I asked this last year, but I'll offer it again:

I find myself on the leaderboard, and can quickly get my rank on each workout, that's easy. Further, subject to a point in time, I can get my cumulative rank. For example, right now, I can look myself up in my age group and region:

Individual workout ranks:
* 55th on 15.1
* 73rd on 15.1a

Cumulative ranks:
* 55th through 15.1 (by definition after only one workout)
* 37th through 15.1a - note: I will lose the ability to easily discern this once 15.2 scores start coming in

What I want to know, and can't seem to get, is how many total valid scores were submitted for each workout (i.e., my percentile)? Being 37th is great, but is it out of 1,000....5,000...10,000?

The mobile app DOES show you this number (when it's working....that thing is buggy).....but only almost. It shows you a rank "X/Y," and after week 1, "Y" is, in fact, simply the number of valid scores received. HOWEVER, after week 2, "Y" is going to be the number of "valid week 1 and week 2" scores. There's no way to get JUST the number of week 2 scores submitted, which leads to the general question:

Is there a (relatively) easy way to find out how many valid scores were submitted for each individual workout? So far the only way I've found is to go to the leaderboard, sort by an individual workout, go to the last page, and then go backwards page by page until you reach the first-last person who does not have a "--" for their score. That is a tedious way to go about it.

I could use the "Y" in the app at any given time IF the people who submit a score on any given week are a SUBSET of the people who submitted a score the previous week. That is, the mobile app may say I'm "100/1000" after week 1 and "95/900" after week 2. If the 900 people are all part of the 1000 from the pevious week, then I know only 900 scores were submitted in week 2. But it could be that 1200 submitted scores, 400 of which didn't submit a score in week 1, and 100 of the week 1 people didn't submit a score in week 2, there's no way to know.
Question for you all, what did Crossfit offer Rich to go team? I fully expect him to win the Open this year, I think he could make it championship #5 this year. My thought is that Rich is tired of the drag and says he's retiring Dave Castro then says he can't lose his #1 asset and so they cut a deal with Rich going to the team competition. It's a perfect strategy, I watched 2 or 3 events on the team side but if Rich is there I'll watch as many as I can. What I'm wondering is; did Crossfit entice Rich into this with something we don't know about? Or did Rich jump into this all on his own??
Rich still wants to compete, but knows without complete dedication, he won't win individual. He believes that he can win the team competition (and they are currently in 1st place in the Open edit: in their region). I don't think CFHQ offered him any money, but remember sometime last year, Rich signed a HUGE contract with Reebok. Considering it's the REEBOK crossfit games, I am sure there is some clause about requirements to compete, just like any sponsorship.

The problem for him with the team event is that really it has relatively little to do with how well he does. He will compete against the next best competitors from other teams. His awesome averageness across events may actually work against his team, plus the fact that the team event is really dependent results wise on your best female competitors.

Yet, his statement after the 15.1/A was that he is in "best shape of his life" and training hard as always :)

I think it's got to be more mental than anything else. Maybe he's still training hard, but mentally, it's as often as he wants, not "feels compelled to" chasing the individual title? Only he knows....

My guess for (not necessarily the next) Open WOD is another two parter.

The first part will be something upper body taxing, heavy barbell work and CTB maybe with the second part being max muscle-ups for time. Except this time the tiebreaker with the athletes weight will favor the heavier athletes.

I always like to see how the celebs, current and former professional athletes do in the open. Anyone know some names that might be competing in 2015?

Anyone else still having issues with the games site? I can't get to it on Chrome, but can on IE. But on IE, I can't search athletes or anything. Anyone having similar issues?

I hope klokov does 15.1/A.

I assume T2B would be a struggle, but not that much, the rest should be a walk in the park for him...
