Hi all,
Wife is complaining of stiffeness and weakness in her hands. 55 yo. Says it doesn't really hurt though. Arthritis I would suspect.
Anybody think maybe alternating hot water and ice soaks would help? Make it worse?
Would Glucosamine help?
Grip exercises?

Glucosamine is certainly worth a try. Take it for a month or so and see. The common form of arthritis is osteoarthritis. It's usually worse in the morning, and as you loosen up you generally feel better. Most people enjoy heat therapy but if the combo feels good then do it. Rheumatoid Arthritis affects the hands quite a bit, but that can be characterized with hot and "feverish" joints. One great heat therapy, for the hands especially, is paraffin wax. Twenty minutes of that can make your hands feel like a newborn's.

With OA the phrase "use it or lose it" usually applies, so grip exercises would be a good idea.

Thanks William. She says she only feels this in the AM. After she starts working her hands it goes away.
Maybe I can get her to work her grip on my back muscles.

You would never get so lucky. Does she, or would she, train with you?

Glad to see ya back Frank! Worried about ya.
I got her going for a few weeks a while back, but between her aches and pains and my lousy coaching/motivational skills...and different hours and life in general, it just ain't happinin right now.
