The Turkish get up would be cool, but man! I can't imagine the judging standards on something like that.

If it were simply "shoulder blades and hips on the floor to begin the rep," and "full lockout overhead at the end of the rep," then what kind of mess would we see in between?

Could be a time period for max load both arms using a standard barbell and plates.

Something different that not a lot of people practice a bunch but transfers well to fitness. It would be much better to make this a Part A of an A/b event. It also gets rid of the specialist Oly and Powerlifters as it is not something they would normally practice or specialize in. Really, who is a barbell TGU specialist ?

I like it, but doubt we will see it.

I'm convinced we're going to see handstand walks this year. Similar to how they did the overhead lunges last year. They kind of setup the model in terms of how to structure it with that less technical movement. HS walks have been a huge part of Regionals and the Games the last few years, I could see them being in the Open now. Not sure what the scaled option for that would be though.

Plus Castro warned people to get some 35# and 50# pairs of dumb bells.

Gym owners are going to be livid if they go out and buy a bunch and they don't end up coming up. I feel like most gyms have 45s but not a lot of 50s I know our coaches are buying some.

I feel like they need to make a blatant statement and not a vague IG post for stuff like this. Assault Bike is sponsoring the Open/Games this year too, wonder if that will come up. People would be scrambling and paying a lot of money...

I don't think that the dumb bells are a big ask. Saying this we have 45 pairs of them in our gym. So I guess that every gym is different. I bet it will bother a few and cause a few to not turn in scores. Overall crossfit has to keep on getting better to stay the same so this involves up grading events and exercises causing more equipment to be purchased.

AA Bikes don't think they will do these. These bikes have not made much of a difference in the Regionals or games. Just a steady push for the events so far. If they did do an all out 50 cal for time in a workout at either level then the bikes would be for real. Its weird because they can cause such pain and havoc on you but they lay just as accessory work in the events.

So until they drop the hammer I don't think that AA bikes will be coming to a open any time soon.

Assault Bike was a sponsor last year as well. Highly unlikely you will see them this year in the Open.

I have adjustable DBs at home, first piece of gear I ever had. I am not likely to actually do the Open this year but nice to know I could. Although last year the 25' of OH walking lunge would have been a no go at home.
