Are you doing the qualifier for the Games? I'm only a spectator this year but you'll definitely have my support if you compete. Hope all is well.

Played hockey yesterday.

Brent - Yes I am, I signed up last night. My thought was that it's only $10 and likely I have no shot at Regionals. I am really just hoping that I can do all the workouts as Rx'd with what I have here at home. I am sort of excited and a little nervous. May have to drive a couple hours to get to an affiliate if I can't do it at home. Thanks for the support.

Pretty pleased with the OHS it's coming along nicely. I figure I am about 1 year away from even remotely challenging to get to regionals but am doing the open. It was $10 and this is not my whole life, just something I do to keep from turning into a blob. Hoping it'll be lots of fun. Wonder what the first WOD will be. Hopefully something I can do in the basement pain cave.

The CFFB DWOD was deadlifts and KB power cleans but I did a little differently. I eyed up this main site WOD and figured I could post a fairly decent time so I thought I would try it out.

3 rounds
10 275lb Deadlift
50 Double Unders


The best time I could find was Greg Amundson who did it in 2:59 and likely I could've matched it but I tripped up on two DU's.

Pretty happy with my effort today. If Tony Budding is looking he can make this one of the Open Sectional WODs so I stand at least some chance !

Great job on that wod, Jason. Your double unders looked good but you really blew through those deadlifts. I like that workout and I will have to try it sometime. If I can stay under 5 minutes I'll be happy. Awesome job and nice home setup by the way.

Thanks Brent. My goal was to do the whole WOD unbroken, actually I was surprised the DL's felt that good.

Took a couple rest days and will do CFFB tonight. I am awaiting to see what the first "Open" WOD will be. As stated above, mostly anxious to see if I can do it at home or if there will be more intricate planning involved. I am hoping for the former. It's finally starting to warm up here so outside might even be an option.

Press 5RM 130 (f@3.5)
I got out of position right from the start, man I suck at pressing but it is getting better

4 rounds each for time:
2 Front Squat 80% 1RM (215)
10 Db swings 40lbs (quiet ball slams)
3 strict pull ups (to mimic 15' rope climbs)
3 cycles is 1 round
rest 2 min b/w rounds


It looks like my sub wasn't quite on the ball as I was way faster than most bloggers. Also my plan to lead the open has been foiled ! I thought I might do the WOD tonight and be the leader for oh about 5 seconds.

Brent, thanks for the comment about my set up, it has been about two years in the making. Slowly but surely I only need a couple more key pieces and I think we are going to head to the garage here towards the end of the months for the summer.

Power Snatch 8X2 @ 140 (a new PR for me)
Weighted pull up 3RM up to 50 lbs

Supposed to be sprints but I did....

30 Du's
15 PS @ 75 lbs
6 rounds (270) on the dot and I have video to prove it, just no one else in it. I may submit anyway, but I am going to do it again and may work some heavy singles in the snatch to warm up again it worked pretty well. Pretty sure I can get seven even rounds I took a lot of time breathing as I broke up 5-5-5 after round 2. Better strategy will help a lot. Video to follow shortly.

What changes will you make to your strategy? You looked like you kept a good pace throughout.

My plan is to do the first 2 rounds unbroken and a little quicker. I think I could "muscle snatch" and decrease my cycle time. After that I would do the next 2 rounds as 8/7 with 3 breaths and back on the bar quicker. Then rounds of 5/5/5 with a couple quick breaths and back to the bar. I think I could get 7+30 double unders but we shall see. I think this will be a WOD I can do well at so I should try and get the best score possible. Thanks for the look in, I see some of the big name guys have posted scores as well. Interested to see what next week brings.
