yesterday I ate a large salad as part of my meal for both breakfast and lunch. By mid afternoon I felt overly full and the tummy was bloated and irritated. I'm having trouble getting in enough good carbs without grains - it's both inconvenient and expensive.... so I'm planning to start eating more bananas and dried dates. Do you peeps have any other recs for high density, paleo carbs. I could do raisins or other dried fruit too.

quinoa is incredibly dense and quite versitile. It's technically not a grain (it's a seed) so I'm not sure where it fits in paleo-wise.

Taha, I usualy add some fruit in my salad like apple, orange or pineapple

Bananas, grapes, papaya, mango, pineapple, etc. Most of the tropical fruits are pretty carb dense. You could also add in some root vegetables like sweet potatoes.

Personally I'd avoid the dates and other dried fruit. It has a glycemic index/load similar to sugar and the majority of the stuff in the store (even at the health food store where I work) has been sulphured.

Oh, how I love dried dates.

They are the most delcious food ever.

Sorry for the rant.

Fruits in general are relatively high density in terms of carbs, I use apples a lot. The dried fruits are great for portability. I like unsulphured figs, Trader Joe's has some that are unsulfured and organic.
