Re: 2015 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread
Castro wasn't much for dropping clues about the contents of the open wods. Last year I think the biggest clue he gave was 1 or 2 days before the chipper workout where he did that instagram vid of him in front of a wood chipper.
That being said, it is fun to speculate about open wods. Vic's idea of amrap 12 of 5 mu, 7 DL 315 9 burpees is sounds like a challenging wod, but I don't think the 1st movement of the 1st wod is going to be MU. |

I'm actually more inclined to think that might be a possibility. Just set the tone right away and let everyone know if they should sign up for scaled or Rx. |

That would definitely constitute a definitive "The 2015 Rx Open is here" announcement. |
Re: 2015 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread
The first week I think is going to be exiting ... at least a 10min WOD.
Based on the videos they have dropped on us over the past few weeks *Nine Foundational Movements* I think they are sending us a hint there. Something that will keep the crowd alive and inspire us all for the coming weeks that we can all do, something simple but we are going to hate him for :) Amrap - 10+min WBs 22lbs and Sumo dead lift ladder |
Re: 2015 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread
I listened to the Crossfit radio show 365 last night where Castro was interviewed. One interesting thing he mentioned is that Castro is not involved at all in the main site wod programming. It is a different group of people from CFHQ that does the main site programming. He didn't give any specific hints as to the content of the Open or Regionals. He did talk about the instagram pic of the regional setup that had a rig in the middle of the playing field. He noted that that setup would have more flexibility for programming and make the competition more visually appealing.

Re: 2015 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread
How about squat clean grace with 225/165 lbs?
Scaled 155/115 Same thing with Isabel, with squat snatches as the standard. Or even better yet... 30 MU, Isabel with 185/135lbs, grace with 185/135 lbs for time, squat snatches and squat cleans required, 20 minute cap. I would also love to see a max lift attempt. It would be nice if Castro gave us "minimal standards" for deciding whether to pick the scaled or RXed divisions. Possibly max lifts, certain skill requirements, times on benchmarks, ect... |
Re: 2015 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread
Here is my take.
Based on what Dave Castro explained as to why they decided on a scaled division my guess is that the Open will remain very similar to years past. The scaled events are for people who cannot do the standard Crossfit movements. I liked some of the different stuff from last year. It was good, so expect more of the same type of testers. |

This is not Regionals or the Games. |
Re: 2015 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread
Last year we discussed that Camille lived and worked out a lot in southern California, but registered and won the Regionals for Canada East.
The CrossFit Games Instagram page just posted a photo of her, reporting that she is registered for the Open in the South West region. http://instagram.com/p/ydLgqlBoRC/?modal=true (wfs) I don't know what's going on in her personal life, or where she is living. I just found it interesting. In the combined Regionals, she'll be competing against these women: South West (wfs) South Central (wfs) ... and Latin America |
Re: 2015 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread
Both herself and her husband (Dave Lipson) are registered there. My guess is they are now living in that Region.
