Re: Nik
Good stuff on Barbara today!! Way to push through the pain.
She's a real deceptive b i t c h!! Doesn't look like too many reps....built in rest....easy right?? :biglaugh: |
Re: Nik
As others have said already Great work with Barbara. I'll be giving it a go tommorrow. Not sure if I should scale or not, the fact that you said nausea hit already makes me wonder. What the hell, I have yet to meet pukie, may have to introduce myself.
Any tips for a first timer on this one? I'll be doing it after my Deadlift 5 rep max. |

As you saw on my times, a break will cost you big on Barbara. I hit round 4 and the situps suffered real bad. I though I was going to puke there and had to slow down and grab a breath and just that took my time into the 5min range. Other then that go hard. If you get a head ache after that is natural with barbara. It is called the ''barbara headache'' of course. |

Re: Nik
Five rounds of:
5 Dumbbell deadlifts 5 Dumbbell hang cleans 5 Dumbbell push presses 5 Dumbbell squats 1.30lbs 2.35lbs 3.40lbs 4.55lbs 5.65lbs F we only have 40lbs DB's then on the 55lbs I had onehand curlbars with 25lbs plates on them. it was real clanky and awkward. I got brady to video the train wreck and he will post the last attempt. I was having trouble with the SP lock out and I had to position the weights on either side of my shoulder, real awkward. I dropped the bar with 2 reps to go on SP and Brady made me finish it anyway, I'm glad he did. I should have gone with the bar like you said Ernie, but I had to try and see how bad it was going to be. Bradt will post the video in a bit I can't wait to see how dumb it looks. I expect it to be hilarious. |

Re: Nik
Good job on it nik!!! Sorry to hear your makeshift db didn't workout so well but atleast you now know what a bear complex feels like. Did your grip get tired?
|
Re: Nik
Great job Nik. Way to push through even if it was awkward. Looking forward to seeing the video. Could use a chuckle or two.
|
Re: Nik
Nice work with that damn rig Nik, we know what its like to use different kinds of equipment. I was practising the OH walk today in a small weights area just walkling backwards and forwards.
|
Re: Nik
3:00 break
Back squats 3x3 255 265 275lbs |

Grip was a tough one. After each set my forearms werewrecked.
Great job Nik. Way to push through even if it was awkward. Looking forward to seeing the video. You stacking benches to box jumps, Ernie doing them on steps. Me and my rig. |

haha, I'm going to have to have a look at this video!!
These were nasty enough, I couldn't imagine doing them with makeshift equipment. |

Five rounds, each for time of: 20 Pull-ups C2B 30 Push-ups 40 Sit-ups abmatt 50 Squats 1.3:58 2.3:55 3.4:18 4.4:11 5.4:44 on round 4 I hit nausea real bad on the situps, I didn't know if I'd have to stop to trow up. I didn't know if I'd finish or do round 5. But Round 5 was better. Pullups unbroken c2b pushups broke after round 1 to 10 5,5,5,5 I was hitting failure. Situps ok till round 4. Squats unbroken, sum sets slower then others.
Nice one mate, IMO Barbara is horrendously tough and probably one of the hardest benchmarks. |

Thanks Leon, funny how BW exercizes can hurt like that. |
Re: Nik
Complete as many rounds in seven minutes as you can of:
95 pound Squat clean, 10 reps 20 Sit-ups The standard for the sit-up is feet anchored, back of the hands touch the ground above your head on the bottom, and hands touch the anchor at the top. No Abmat. rx'd 4round's and 10cleans I wanted 5 rounds and missed it by the situps. Good sprint. |

I bet those cleans got you breathy and the grip tired huh? How many rounds of the cleans were you able to do unbroken? My goal when I do it is to not let go of the bar. I would rather brake up the situps than the cleans. Good job bro! |

I'd clean and drop to a hang and get a breath and go. If it would have been hang power clean it would have been way faster. |

My gf just did it with 55lbs (cleans are pretty new to her), and got through 3 rounds + 8 squat cleans So there's something to shoot for if you use a similar weight |

It depends on your max, it is an all out sprint, you don't want to be waisting time staring at the bar. |
Re: Nik
Late posting 3:00 break.
Hang squat snaches 3x3 with 65lbs working form. 5x1 front squat 205lbs. DU practice. |

I thought it was the way I was sleeping (on my side with my arms out), cutting off the circulation to my arm. I really don't know. |

I thought it was the way I sleep too, but it isn't it is stiff muscles, right along with the ''FUZZ''. We need to strech!!:ranting2: |
Re: Nik
WOD
Foam roll for 30min AMRAP Shoulders, traps, back, latts, glutes, hams, calf's, quads. Shoulder mobility streches. Ham and glute streches. |

last two fingers are innervated by the Ulnar nerve and it travels down the inside aspect of your arm, so it isn't uncommon to have pressure on that if you are sleeping funny!! That would make them both go "numb".. :) |

I was going to say the exact same thing. Probably just the way you're sleeping on it. I get that every now and then too. Sometimes a whole dead arm...next time I'll try a pushup! |
