Kevin Roddy 04-26-2004 05:36 PM

"He showed no signs of slowing until around 450."

Unreal!

I doubt the "record" is consecutive. Its barely even a record. Jack Lalanne did 1000 pushups and 1000 chinups in 82 mins. The 239 pullups by sharkany is bull****. Several people including myself have done more pullups in an hour than 239. I don't know whats up with these marines telling us all these lies again. The most consecutive pullups have been done by Lee Chin Yong, age 62 did 370 at a BW of about 130. I also heard in 1983 he did 170 and then in 1988 he did 370 so thats a 200 pullup increase in 5 years. But thats about the most info I have come across Lee Chin Yong and his pullups.

yeah i doubt they were non stop, he must have been jumping off the bar taking a break then going again

there is no current record for consecutive chins/pull-ups. The original record in Guinness was set by a guy named Lewis who was a circus performer and who did 78 from a set of rings (early 1960's). Then there was a record in Guinness of 106 set by a William Reed at the University of Pennsylvania in 1969. That was followed by a record of 135 performed by a marine named Fernandez (can't recall his first name) several years later. He stayed on the bar and rested by alternating dead hangs with one arm. Since that time, and until a few years ago, Guinness considered record attempts getting on and off the bar.....hence the last record listed by the Korean gentleman.

The guy who did this is actually Matt from STREND, the one in the video of the 50 pullups. Wow...
