Subbing SDHP for Rowing Question

The WOD I will be working on consists of rounds that include:

Row 1K
Row 750m
Row 500m

No rower at my gym. :( So I'll need to sub SDHP. How many reps of SDHP do I have to be equivalent of a row of: 1k, 750m, 500m?

Also, I have no idea how much weight I should put on for the SDHP.

I only had one workout about 2 months ago which had me doing SDHP at 95 lbs., for rounds with reps of 18-15-12-9-6-3. Aside from this workout, I have no other guage of how much weight I should use for the SDHP.

Any suggestions and help will be greatly appreciated!

Re: Subbing SDHP for Rowing Question

My apologies for posting this question as it has been answered in another thread I found (and also in the FAQ).

For those who need the answer, it is:

The sub for rowing is SDHP (Sumo Deadlift High Pull) at 45 pounds (30# for women) and one rep for every 10 meters of rowing.

I'd be careful... that is a LOT of SDHP reps. Too many in my opinion. Do you have a treadmill? I sometimes sub 400m running for every 500m rowing.

Re: Subbing SDHP for Rowing Question

Today, I will be doing the WOD I posted above. Yes, my gym has treadmills. Just no rowers :(

Does anyone else think that is too many SDHP's?

The rounds currently consists of:
1st Round: 100 SDHP
2nd Round: 75 SDHP
3rd Round: 50 SDHP

Is subbing 400m run for every 500m of rowing a good substitute? Maybe I could sub the first round of 1k row with 400m run + 50 SDHP's, and second round of 750m row with 400m run + 25 SDHP. And for the 3rd round -- Just a 400m run? hmmm...

Feedback will be greatly appreciated!!!

Yeah, that's the right prescribed sub.

And, yeah, I've done it, and I think it's too much. 100 SDHP feels much more strenuous to me than a 1K row.

Agreed. When you get up to subbing for 1k rows, it's ridiculous.

For 250m & 500m row subs, though, I think it's a pretty good sub.

I think a better sub is SDHP a 16 kg KB with the ratio you mentioned.

The 45# bar is too much, especially for 1000m or more. In my opinion.

Re: Subbing SDHP for Rowing Question

I usually sub 400m run for a 500m row & 800m run for a 1000m row. I've never rowed so I can't say how it really compares, but like the others have said, doing 100 sdhp is crazy.
