can anybody tell me approx. how much a one inch by 6' dowel would weigh? i dont have an actual dowel but a lot of pvc that i can fill with sand to the correct weight... thanks

slightly less than 2 pounds, depending on density of the wood. The volume of the dowel is equal to about 1/4 gallon of water that weighs slightly over 2 pounds. wood floats, so.....

Why is it that you want to duplicate the weight of a dowel?

Most of the time you are using a dowel or PVC to ensure that you have proper form without weight, so the weight would not matter that much.

I am just curious if you have another reason.
