Some suffering going on in Murph...pretty blistering pace...

Thorisdotter and Webb look pretty beat down.

Webb taken off in a stretcher. She looked out of it, weaving all over the place during the run. Hope she is ok.

Like, half of these athletes seem destroyed by Murph.

Not sure a snatch speed ladder two hours later is the safest idea...

Might have been a good strategy to take it easy on Murph and leave something for the 2 other events today. It will be interesting to see how some of the athletes perform the rest of the day.

Should the next event be starting now? ESPN is saying another half hour, games site says different.

I was wondering the same thing. I have been watching on ESPN3 on my ESPN app but I'm thinking it will be under the "live TV" portion of my app which means I can't watch it without a cable subscription.

Amazing that they're still able to throw around all this weight (heaviest @215lbs) so fast and efficient after doing murph rx'd 2 hours ago.

Tonight's final individual event has been put up for a vote: double DT or heavy DT

Wfs -- http://games.crossfit.com/announcements/vote-twitter-doubledt-or-heavydt

As rx'd, DT is:

Five rounds for time of:
155 pound Deadlift, 12 reps
155 pound Hang power clean, 9 reps
155 pound Push jerk, 6 reps

I was watching it on my ESPN app on my xbox then all of a sudden it cut off in the middle of heat 6 and prompted me to verify my cable provider. Booooo!

says 10 rounds of DT or 5 rounds of heavy DT with 205#.. wonder if they have a choice.. that would be cool to add choices to workouts.. either do this or that and meet at the end and see who makes the best choice for themselves.

Add un pickable to the unknown..

I refuse to pay for cable so my watching ended at 7 on the dot. Lame. Why can't we watch it ob YouTube like the rest of the world? Oh well....time to cut the grass.

It's gonna be up to the Twitter votes.

If the athletes are the fittest athletes on earth, and the spectators are the fittest spectators on earth, does that make us watching on TV the fittest couch potatoes on earth? :whistlin:

I started watching the women's speed snatch ladder late. They showed a little clip of Camille crying. What happened? Is she watching a chance at the podium slip away?

I know CLB gets a bad rap for not getting called on missed reps (squats and pull-ups), but it definitely looked like she got screwed over by her judge.

She got no-repped three times in the first round, but looked like they all could have been to depth. Particularly the second no-rep on the first barbell.

Final Friday event:

Heavy DT

5 rounds for time of:
12 deadlifts (205 / 145 lb.)
9 hang power cleans (205 / 145 lb.)
6 push jerks (205 / 145 lb.)

That is frustrating for the athletes. I'm guessing this slowed her down enough that she didn't get past the quarterfinal round?

I also noticed they are using the dead-bounce competition plates. I don't see anyone tripping when they jump over the bar.

^^ they don't air the first round of these sprints for some reason on the ESPN feed. That's why it seemed like it started late (site said it started but didn't show on ESPN til later). They did that last year also

Well here's one of the Camille no-rep

Re: 2015 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

I went back and watched Camille's heat. We have the luxury of rewatching the event and critiquing at a speed of our discretion. It's very different when the judge is making a decision in real time.

That being said, the first no rep was a good call. Squat depth was not below parallel. Second no rep could have gone either way. Squat depth was borderline. These happened on the first barbell.

Third no rep was confusing. It looked like the judge punched one hand to call good rep, then immediately changed her mind to signal no rep. The lockout looked good, but maybe it didn't look that way to the judge? Maybe it looked like her arms were forward, i.e. her arms were straight with shoulders tipped forward? I dunno.

Matt Fraser in first with a cushion of almost 90 points.

Re: 2015 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

Tim probably similar to how Froning rubs me wrong.

Not sure why he does, but he does. I am sure Rich is awesome in person and if we met and hung out I would imagine my opinion would change. Depending on how this weekend shakes out I wonder if you will see Rich come back to try and possibly beat Mat next year.

I think Ben Smith will give him a run too, he has done well in the past in sprint events and I don't think it's Fraser's jam. Expect Ben to do very well today in the sprints, the soccer chipper and the C and J. Fraser for sure will do well in the soccer chipper and the C and J. At least that was has been announced so far.

I'm not sure why but Fraser just rubs me the wrong way. I can't quite figure out why, but it sure looks like he's going to slot right into Rich's shoes. He's been dominant so far, I don't know how fast he is for the 2 sprint events, but regardless, if there is a barbell involved he's going to do well in those events plus his cardio is killer.

I agree with you. It seems like the judge was so focused on looking at depth, which CLB got here, and that's why she at first gave the "good rep" signal. Then she realized CLB maybe didn't stand straight up (remember shoulders and hips have to be stacked on top of each other) and changed her mind to a no rep. It does kinda look like CLB is leaning a bit forward at the end, already thinking about going towards the next barbell.

Sucks for her, and I get wanting to go through the movements as fast as possible means doing the bare minimum required range of motion, but as an athlete you need to leave no doubt in the mind of the judge.

Looks like the Viking Women ain't playing around!
Sigumndsdottir 1st
Davidsdottir 2nd
Thorisdottir 8th

Glad to see Annie rising back up after Murph!

Re: 2015 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

CLB honestly IMHO got no repped for 3 bad lifts. First was for sure, second i agree was a close call and in real time I won't second guess the judge and the 3rd she was so far forward.

As with many comps I've done and judged a judge can sadly make or break an athlete.

I can't disagree with any of her 3 no rep calls but I can also say that many of the other judges let some similar ones slip/go by.

Saw the same thing on some of the male athlete judges.

Look at the push-up calls on Murph. Some got away with a lot less range.

Joys of the human side.

I notice on the leaderboard that Chad Mackay has withdrawn from the competition. His Instagram reports that he broke a rib during the Heavy DT event.
