6 Weeks of Starting Strength
I started a 6 week Starting Strength Program with my roommate Aaron at the beginning of the year.
Thread 1 and Thread 2
I'm lactose intolerant, and having been sick since beginning of December, I started drinking a glass or two of whole milk December 14th (after a week I was at a half gallon no problem. At that time I was roughly 196 lbs. (no idea bf%). On December 31st I weighed in at 202 lbs. and 19% body fat.
Here are my results:
Deadlift 265 1RM => 245x5 (should have been 260, but I skipped my last workout for how bad I was feeling)
Bench 210 1RM => 207x5 (this was my weight right before benching)
Squat 205 1RM => 270x5
Clean ?? 1RM => 135x5
Press 130 1RM => 135x5
I weighed in yesterday at 205.8 lbs and 20.4% body fat. While Aaron had been doing CrossFit for over a year, I had only been doing it on and off this past Fall, so I was in no where good of shape as him. While I only put on a couple of pounds compared to Aaron, the only way I can describe how I feel is much more put together and solid.
I have to thank Aaron for helping me with this program, the third guy who did the program with us (Mike) and everyone at Cleveland CrossFit for the encouragement. (And Coach Rippetoe for the program itself.) It was a great feeling going back to the CrossFit workouts yesterday. I look forward to the rest of this year. :)
(And Joe, because I know you will see this post, one of my goals this year is to be able to take you on some workouts at some point... There's your heads up bro :cool: )
