PR squat

This is prob that last video ill post for a while but anyway this a pr squat of 225 at bw of 165. The main thing i tried to focus was using the "bounce" at the bottom. It felt better but not sure on my speed if it was too fast. Any advice is appreciated! (ps i missed the last rep :/ definetly ruined my day lol)

It's hard to be sure because of the angle that the camera was at, but it looks like your balance is slightly forward. This is a guess, based on you rocking back on your heels at the end of some of the reps. Try placing the camera so that it is lined up with the bar; make sure the field of view includes the bar's location at the finish of the rep.

Good work. For near ME work, the hips rising first occurs somewhat naturally and should be acceptable IMO.

A better camera angle would help as others have mentioned.

Keep it up.

All the best,
Arden

Thanks Arden. I think my hips rise first because I try to focus on hip drive. I find it really helps me get up from the bottom.

Not too bad! You should be on your heal and the balls of your feet. Most of the weight should be on your heals though. When you are squating you should always look up and find something to focus on. Envision yourself sitting on a standard size toilet and then getting off of it straight up. That is the dept that you should go to. Your feet should be about should width apart with you feet slightly angle out.

I agree that it did look like you were on your toes. Keep on trying and you will get to your goals.

Looks like you're initiating the squat with the knees. Hips come first, then knees. Push your hips back as you can before you bend the knees. This will give you a good stretch in the hamstrings and it'll make the squat easier on the knees while allowing you to get better hip drive out of the hole.

Nice work, congrats on the PR!

Re: PR squat

Knees are tracking way too far forward and the butt is barely going back.

You want to keep your knees back and push your butt back. - This will give you much better "bounce."

Also, don't listen to Chris. For better hip drive, you should be looking down at a point on the floor about 5-6 feet in front of you.

Re: PR squat

If you look up you will be more likely to over arch your back and you'll probably fug up your cog and your hips will not move in the correct direction. Don't look up, like Julius said, focus on a point ahead of you.
