Or as Matt calls it...'Rhabdo Day'

Five rounds for time of:
2 pood Kettlebell swings, 25 reps
25 GHD Sit-ups
25 Back Extensions
25 Knees to Elbows

38:49 Rx'd

Don't know what a good time for this is...and I'm not talking crappy range of motion either but I'm just happy I got through it. Holy Mackerel!
Good Lord!
Looks like a good time to me.
That might actually be a WOD I can do - go the 2 pood bell, but no GHD. I'd have to sub 50 abmat sit ups for the middle 2 exercises.
Might have to try this one over the weekend!

:highfive:

Once you get used to ring dips they feel the same as bar dips.

did this with the squat clean just to do it...I came up on my toes a few times but that was only when I didn't get my elbows up high/quick enough.

Time
12:47 PR!!! (First time ever doing this one)

Didn't have time to post yesterday...

Today was an 'active' rest day.
Did a light warmup so I could be limber to run the group class as well as the 5:30 and 7:30 intro classes.

Rugby practice. I'm such a wuss. I got hit for the first time and I think I have a runaway rib on the left side. feels like a constant 'stitch' like what you get when running while dehydrated...

Anyway...Lots of sprints, pushups, situps, some burpees etc...

hi jason,

wow!! good effort with the snatches... and that metcon (deadlift, box jumps)...

i noticed that you play rugby!!! i love rugby!! two of my mates are professional union players with the Western Force, a Super 14 team..

what position do you play? i'm guessing by your size, i'm thinking centres, fly half (or second five - depends where you're from), winger (dunno how fast you are)... what impact has crossfit had on your rugby???

sorry to sound like a schoolgirl, but rugby is a passion of mine! Last night was season opener and it was great going to watch a live game!!

I'm hoping to play again after I finish anticoagulant (anti-clotting) therapy!!

jeremy austin from crossfit gold coast used to play at the elite level for queensland reds and act brumbies...

eat well, train hard, live happy...

Did FGB today...RX'd. The last time we did it it wasn't rx'd because of limited equipment (we only had a 15# ball and an 18 inch box jump).

My previous PR was 267. Today my score - 297. I had two goals...beating vinny (306) and breaking the 300 barrier. Missed 'em both. Owell...still a PR. Felt a little tweak in my back warming up doing the SDHP but it didn't bother me.

Here's the breakdown

Wall Ball 30/25/22
SDHP 23/20/18
PP 26/20/18
BJ 21/21/18
Row 11/11/12

Total 297. I think if I could just get a few inches taller I would do much better on the row..:)

02/15/09

Big day today. On my running outside days I usually just go for 40 minutes at an easy pace. I figured if I stay consistent with that I'll keep going further and further in the same amount of time.

Today was the first time I officially hit the 4 mile mark.
My house to 869 Lake Shore Drive and Back. According to google maps that's exactly 2 miles. And I want a few houses past mine to round out the 40 minutes.

Also had a head wind on the way back.

Good day..

7 rounds for time

10 SDLHP
10 Ring dips

10:05.

I think the spirit of this workout is under 10 mins but, owell. Starting to get the kip down on the ring dips.

Also took some time out today to practice walking on hands (did a few 10 sec stands and walked about 10 feet a few times), pistols (got a few) and double unders - just seems like I haven't done them in a while.

Sumo Deadlift
10 - 132
7 - 182
5 - 202
3 - 222
1 - 242
1 - 272
1 - 282 (I'm an idiot here. I put a 10# plate on the right side, forget the left)
1 - 302
1 - 312
1 - 312
1 - 312

Here's the story here. I haven't gone super heavy on deads in a while due to back issues. Other than a slight knee twinge I felt good today. Couple things...

1. I'm trying to dial in my form so that's why I did the Sumo Deadlift. I think doing it that way it is easier for me to keep my (entire) back straight. I feel that not maintaining a rigid spine will, and probably is a limiting factor of my deadlift and will probably keep my CFT down, not enable me to go heavier on other lifts etc.

2. I didn't go super heavy...just heavy enough to jolt the system...

I basically copied off of Tony Bainbridge...Not because he's super strong but because we're about the same height, so I figure if he can do it that way so can I.

Couple notes...

I really need to learn to lower the weight better by initiating by sticking my butt out.

Need to find out if I can do Sumo DL for a CFT.

Also. I'm starting to add some extra strength work, and will probably do a metcon tonight.

Re: JD's CrossFit Chronicle

02/19/09

Did some real silliness this evening.

22-16-8 (to keep reps even for single arm work)

Dumbell squat clean (2 Dumbells)
Push Press (1 arm Dumbell R/L)
Overhead squat (1 arm Dumbell R/L)

We were supposed to do the above reps for the 2nd 2 exercises using each arm totaling 22,16 and 8 reps...I was a MORON! And for some reason, I did the squat cleans correctly but did 22 reps of the other 2 exercises for all 3 rounds.

Used 40# Dumbells.

My time 14:55.

That's what I get for not paying attention.

Squat clean

5 - 95
3 - 135
1 - 155
1 - 165

1 - 185
1 - 195 (PR, BIG TIME!)
1 - 200 (F)
1 - 200 (F)
1 - 200 (F)

previous clean PR was 187.

I'm calling a PR on these even though I never really went heavy on squat cleans before...pretty fired up actually...almost at 200 (which I was pretty close to nailing btw). Oh well...Off to rugby practice!!

For time:
Row 500 meters
115 pound Push press, 21 reps
Row 500 meters
115 pound Push press, 18 reps
Row 500 meters
115 pound Push press, 15 reps
Row 500 meters
115 pound Push press, 12 reps

My time 13:33

I was planning on doing 'Diane' with Vinny today but things changed after I got destroyed at rugby practice last night. Those dudes are tough! Tonight might've been my last appearance but we'll see. Knee hurts, shin has a baseball sized knot, few knots on my head, several bruises and a black eye that would make any boxer proud.

I'm going to the teams banquet this saturday...I'll see how I feel on Monday.
Right now I feel like I got the crap kicked out of me.

Re: JD's CrossFit Chronicle

Still battling a headache from my 20 rep squat day...was planning on doing this..

30 HSPU
40 Pullups
50 KB Swings
60 Situps
70 Burpees

Started getting a big headache during the pullups so I didn't push it, stopped at about 25 PU's. Really bummed out!

I did end up doing about 15 muscle ups though and stringin' a few together - Hadn't done that before. Also, doing 1 or 2 MU's at a time didn't really make my head hurt too bad. I'm going to take tomorrow totally off and if I don't feel 100% on Monday I'm going to visit the Dr.

Re: JD's CrossFit Chronicle

Thanks Carter!

Here's an update...I haven't really done any kind of a workout since saturday. Actually, on Saturday I did our MCCF Warmup and then a bunch of Muscle ups because of my headache issue. (Started during pullups in the WO which made my head hurt but seemed okay doing slow MU's) So I figured I would take an extra few days off. Well Monday comes and we find out we are having our baby about 2 weeks early!! On Tuesday the 3rd instead of monday the 16th. I had tentatively scheduled my rest week for the week we had our baby so basically it just happened the same time as my
'headache' issue. Well. We had a beautiful baby girl, Micah Joy (8 lbs, 9 oz). She was very healthy for the 1st 12 hours or so then things started to change and the last 3 days have been probably the worst of my life...

She's getting better but we aren't out of the woods yet. I'm optimistic and hopeful that everything will be okay. I'm a worrier so, when there are complications with your first born you tend to freak out a bit.

This is really the first time I've left the hospital/NICU - Just came home to get a few things in order and I even went for a little run.

40 mins. My house to 901 Lakeshore back to 22804...

didn't feel great...still not 100%.

Keep your fingers crossed!

Re: JD's CrossFit Chronicle

03/07/09

It's very hard to find time work out when you're spending 20 hours a day at the hospital with your 4 day old 1st baby...also an easy time to let up as nobody will fault you for NOT working out.

She's doing a bit better, and the only thing that is important to me is my cute little daughter and the next blood gas test result. Keep your fingers crossed.

At any rate...I'm still not feelin' 100% and will be visiting a dr soon.

That being said. I made up a workout at home since I have a very short window time that is free to me...

10 Rounds for time

5 support beam (In my basement) deadhang pullups - chins, or alternate grip
10 pushups
15 situps
20 squats
