"HOWITZER"- 7 min AMRAP LADDER of 3,6,9,12,15 etc. rep rounds of: •3 Deadlifts @ 100kg/70kg •3 Box Jumps @ 30"/24" round 12 complete, 15 reps of deadlift 9 boxjumps All box jumps full standing at top and step down to save the ball of my foot. deads unbroken till set 15 where I brok at rep 8 for 3 breaths and go. Finisher- 2 rounds for time of: •run 600m •10 muscle ups I did not have time, I will try at 3:00 to get it done with lunges for runs. |

Fine work Nik, I think you beat Whale by 1 rep , not certain you will have to check he's log, we went at it together so it helped having a race.

Re: Nik
Yesterday was a forced rest day, I was out of the shop all day for a delivery and install.
Today will be the same but I did get a little done this morning. warmup 20 reps GHDs back ext abmatt situps pushups OHSs with bar deadhang pullups x10 press 45lbs x5 75lbs x3 95lbs x3 105lbs x3 115lbs x3 x3 120lbs x3 So I have added press to my by weekly strenght stuff. Time to get it right. I hope to be back in the shop tomorrow. |
Re: Nik
Stubborn lift the press Nik, mines drifted around the same weights since beginning to use it. Apparently benching hurts your shoulder press so people with a strong bench find it harder to get better numbers.

Eh, I hope to build it up a little at a time like I did squats, I hope to build some muscle. I am tired of my wimpy press!! |
Re: Nik
Nice work on howitzer Nik. The press is hard to get stronger at for some reason. I would recommend cycling normal press, DB press (2 and 1 arm), and elevated hspus. Loui Simmons mixes up variations of a strength movement and gets better results than just doing the same thing over and over. I haven't tried this personally with the press but it makes sense in my head because it's such a stubborn lift.

My goal is not just to get a bigger press, it is to get stronger shoulders in general. That is the goal. I know my lacking shoulder strenght is affecting other movements. So I was looking at the press to strengthen my shoulders for other things. I honestly hate to press( because it shows the weekness so aparently) I will mix it up. That sounds like more of what I am going for. What do you think Scott. |
