Are you getting a new job? No more starbucks?
Thanks, Marianne! I'm hoping to be able to stay with SBUX, but it seems highly unlikely at this point. Seems my position here in CA fell through the cracks (cost savings) and my transfer back got messed up. No positions available now, so I think I see some writing on the wall. On a really positive note, this frees me up to work on helping our box get new clients and perhaps then doing what I really want to do - - train others! |

Sorry to hear you're not feeling great. :(

No workout yesterday or today - - went to the Dr.: diagnosis, definitely have some kind of cold or infection involving the lungs, with a remote possibility of pneumonia ......BLEH! Explains the shortness of breath and abnormally high heart rates during the WODs. Blood pressure was higher than I've ever known it to be also. This was the good news. The bad news......no workouts for a week! Dr's orders. :ranting2::ranting2::ranting2: |

Feeling a LOT better, but this "thing" still seems to be hanging on. At least I wasn't totally winded carrying something to the top of the stairs inside our house like I was the other day! Looking forward to starting back up.....easily at first, I'm afraid. |

100310 WEDNESDAY
Doctor visit - - follow-up today. Great news; I can start working out again! No pneumonia, just a nasty respiratory infection and info that my sub-clinical asthma (I've had most of my life) is probably no longer sub-clinical...... The bad news....X-rays showed old scarring and damage due to second hand smoke for years (mom was a chain-smoker). Dr. said the hard workouts (e.g., CrossFit) and deep breathing necessitated through the workouts were the best thing I could do to keep lung function up as I get older! Let's hear another big round of applause for CF!! |

A new client of mine (29 year old skinny chick with chronic back pain for years) had been doing CF style WODs with me for ~5 weeks...then she got into a car accident! After the accident her doctor told her that the only reason she can walk after the accident is because of the workouts she has been doing! Her doctor said the only unfortunate thing is that insurance won't cover my services! |

let's go, Steve!! :highfive: |
Re: Steve's "I'm not aging quietly" log
Thanks for the encouragement and the kick in the butt, everyone! Last few days have had no energy at all......naps every afternoon and no workouts. BLEH!
100315 MONDAY First workout in about two weeks.......No way I was ready to do "Murph" with the rest of the CF Sonora crew, so did: Jump rope workout - - approx. 50:00 Lots of short rest breaks Concentrated on DU attempts - chained three twice today! Mixed these in with 5 sets X 100 single. All but last set unbroken. |
Re: Steve's "I'm not aging quietly" log
Way to get back into it. Glad your doc cleared you to exercise.
|
Re: Steve's "I'm not aging quietly" log
Steve: what is important is that you did something.. i tell you that jumping rope for 50 min can be brutal !! great job on the DU.. I still have yet to string 2!! :)
Hope you are feeling back to your "ol' self" soon!:highfive: |

Getting the timing, the actual "jump" technique, and movement of the wrists down are simply crazy concepts I just can't seem to master.......yet. Probably just like my kipping, it'll just click someday soon. While I am at times a klutz, I still am reasonably coordinated (or at least I thought I was). BTW, I didn't know a person could experience DOMS from jumping rope. OUCH! Calves, hammies, and insides of my elbows were NOT happy with me today. Throw in the thrusters and SDHPs we did for our WOD today and my whole body is rebelling..... |

Welcome back!
Thanks, Justin. Yeah....it sucked all right. This will be fun to try when I've got my "WOD feet" back under me! 100319 FRIDAY Warm-up: 1 mile run (this felt good - - especially helped loosen up everything - - DOMS is STILL hanging on) 25 DROM 25 SPTs 10 Pull-ups 10 Ring Dips (jumping, negative decents) 10 Back Ext 10 HSPU (subbed regular push-ups) WOD: "Annie" 50 - 40 - 30 - 20 - 10 of Double Unders Sit-ups. Time: 15:10 Rx'd Lots of single DUs, but managed to chain two in a row in about of third of them! All situps unbroken except in Rd. #3 (stopped once). |
Re: Steve's "I'm not aging quietly" log
Hey Steve! Sucks to see your still fighting off DOMS, but Annie has always been one of my favorite WODs to looosen up all that tightness.
And that thruster/SDHP madness with the sprinting sounds fun....as in evil fun. ;) |

You would think I'd have learned in a year of CF not to ever do 50 minutes (even with breaks) of jump rope work the day before a Thruster/SDHP WOD!:rofl: Forgot to mention we did a quick Tabata (Mountain Climbers) after the WOD today. 100326 FRIDAY
FINALLY think I might have shaken the stomach bug. Today was the best I have felt in a workout in quite a while! Warm-up: 400m Run 25 DROM 25 SPTs 15 Back Ext. 15 GHD Sit-ups 15 Ring Dips (regular dips - assisted) 15 Pull ups Strength Work: Dead Lifts 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1. Worked up to and got 305# as a 1RM. (10# PR since my reset). :pepper: WOD: "Randy" For Time: 75 X Power Snatch @ 75#/45# I scaled and used 55# because my snatch technique sucks, plain and simple. TIME: 7:42 My first ever "Randy." I enjoyed this WOD and will enjoy it even more when I learn to get under the bar. Felt the 55# was a good starting weight and allowed for good intensity. Some technique work and I should be able to do this one Rx'd. |
