Great work in here Nik! I see that you are making some real progress on the squat! Up to 340# now! Is this a PR? I remember when you were at 315-320 for the longest time, great to see the number go up like that!
No pr yet. My pr is 350lbs. I have gotten an insite and now (so far0 can push alot harder.

Re: Nik

A.M. warm up
11 HSPUs
20 GHDs
20 back ext
11 HSPUs
20 squats
20 kipping pull ups

rolled my back 2:00min
rolled piriformus 2:00min a side
rolled hip flexers 2:00 min a side

Left knee and calf sore, lower back a little fatigued from the KB yesterday I expect.

In saying that, I really want to train. Mentaly I want more, but it is my rest day and I keep battleing myself to rest instead of train.

10:00 break

daily squat
135lbs x1
185lbs x1
235lbs x1
285lbs x1
325lbs x1
340lbs(154k) x1

easy. The last rep at 340 was easier then the 325 rep. ( I rested the guts of 3:00min befor I did the last rep.

I'm flying! today is my rest day and I was not going to squat today, but I could not keep from it. Lower back was sore befor hand and I though if I just did a few lighter reps I wouls feel better. Well I kept goinig. Loved it. Back and everything else feel loads better.

Something about a heavy squat the kind of reset everything and everything feels better.

Happy, so much fun, so much fun.

daily squat
bar x3
135lbs x3
185lbs x1
235lbs x1
285lbs x1
325lbs x1
340lbs(154k) x1

all easy.

5/3/1
dead lift
135lbs x5
185lbs x5
235lbs x5
285lbs x5
325lbs(147k) x8

I picked 8 reps for the last set and should have picked 10, I hit 8(tough but ok, little fatigued) and probably had it for 10 but stopped at my number. next time I will aim higher.

Great day. happy thanks giving all.

Ok so I worked out Thurs, then friday and sat I only went hiking with just martin and our dog abby, sat Cathy Martin and abby and me. It was fun and we had to climb over logs and under some as well. Good fun, but no real workout.

Glad to get it done but I am not feeling good. I feel light headed and hands are shaking. Last rep my back got really tight. I rolled it for 2:00min but still not right. :ranting2:

I took a bad turn yesterday.

I got real shakey and felt weird and kind of light headed. Blood pressure is fine(hige in the good scale but ok) blood sugar ok. My back is still sore. I feel kind of hung over from yesterday. I hope it clears soon. Off to stretch now and see where I'm at.

Thanks Scott. I/we tried to get to the Dr yesterday, big waist of time there. 2 hours at the emergency room and we ended up leaving and I could not get an appointment to my regular doctor. Cathy is trying to sort out an appointment, but with work that will be really tough.

I'm ok though. Just feel kind of a little hung over and tired even though I got alot of sleep. No heavy for a wile. my back is a little sore any way, so I will take it easy.

Yes, take it easy to you find out what was wrong, plenty of bodyweight stuff you can still chase along in the meantime as I see you already have posted on. Im still having knee pains, mostly when walking downstairs not upstairs, thats fine and squatting is fine, weird and a nuisance.

I've had this happen to me squatting for reps. It's not a good feeling, but I don't think it's anything serious - at least for me. Still, we're at that age where scary things can happen with people's blood vessels, so it's good to be cautious and not push it when feeling that way (as if simply being lightheaded with 300# on your back wasn't a good enough reason to take a pause). A good warmup and solid breathing seem to keep it from occurring to me.

Numbers are looking good. Slow and steady progress is working well for you.

Yea, I agree. I have gotten light heaed befor, but not it getting worse after the lift. But seems ok today though I am taking it easy. With the ''fuzzy'' head and sore back. It will be an upper budy metcon for me today.

Re: Nik

10:00 break

light today to test my head and back a little and be happy.

135lbs x1
185lbs x1
235lbs x1
285lbs x1
330lbs(150k) x1
felt good. Head was fine. I took the reps slow and careful on the back. It was fine on the squat movement. Though still sore. Seems it is the bending that bothers it. not load bering somuch.

Glad to have done it. :) happy.

I know what you mean. different movements bother it, same with my back. Squatting is ok, but putting on my socks is hard and sire!

I think I will do like you said and do body weight and upper. Probably HSPUs, dead hangs and situps for rounds today.

Or leave the back completely in traction and do everything on rings: dips, MUs, skin-the-cats, inverted hangs, levers, and pullups. Handstands can wear on the lower back, too, I've found - as can situps, I'm guessing, if putting on your socks is an issue.

Dang it, to late. I will do that tomorrow I think, but the workout made it loose. I even did some carefull power cleans and did ok with it. It is minor but I al still trying to be careful.

Re: Nik

9:00 min AMRAP

3 game standard HSPUs
3 close over hand deadhang pull ups
15 abmat situps

10 rounds 3 HSPUs

happy with more then a round a min. The situps were the hard part, everything else easy. Back was good through it all.

power clean and push jerk.
85lbs x1
95lbs x1
105lbs x1
115lbs x1
115lbs x1
125lbs x1
135lbs x1
145lbs x1
155lbs x1
165lbs x1
175lbs x1
185lbs x1
195lbs x1
200lbs x1
205lbs x1
210lbs(95k) x1

all real careful. Brady was doing a clean workout and I was really just messing arround and testing my back a little.

I would pretty much do a slow ''deadlift'' to mid to high thigh and then put some power to it. Back was fine and no bother. Sitting in my chair is more a pain then the cleans. Off to drink water and roll and stretch at 3:00 break.

3:00 break

walked a couple of laps with brady.

Nik, I have had some similar symptoms after lifting, though likely not as severe as what you experienced. In my own case, the cause was from being in deep ketosis from a low-carb diet, as well as severe caloric restriction. That, combined with too frequent and too rigorous exercise, was enough to leave me feeling pretty lightheaded after a workout and thoroughly wrung out the next day. I solved the problem by backing off the exercise regimen and bumping up carbs and caloric intake.

Is it possible that your diet or exercise regimen could have something to do with this? Did you cut back significantly on food following up the Thanksgiving holiday, while exercising a bit more? How do you feel now, a day or so later?

I think that is a big part of it, but like you said, I never felt as bad for as long as I did . But thanksgiving I did not over eat. I did have to plates of dinner, no sweets. But fri, sat, sun I did not eat near enough for me for no other reason then I was busy and just did not get to it.
I am not 100% happy with that though and will get a complete physical anyway to be sure. Plus I am way over due for one.
