A holdover from traditional weight training: What do you all think of creatine. I've laid off of the stuff during CF training because in my experience, I gain weight on the stuff. Weight is an enemy for CF since many of the WODS involve lugging body weight against time. Nevertheless, I'd appreciate a sound off on the topic.

Oh, one other thing, which may go without saying: Creatine is the only supplement that I have ever used (I've never 'roided) that actually works. I noticed big gains in power every time. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

In short: creatine is looked upon highly here for the most part. One of the few supplements that is recommended by Robb Wolf. I have only heard of a few isolated incidents of a negative experience taking creatine.

In my experience it is one of the few supliments that does work. When I was taking it daily a few years back when it was the rage it was the strongest I ever had been. It allows for faster recovery of your ATP during a workout so you can push harder at the end of a workout then in turn get stronger. You will hear a bunch of stuff about the weightgain and cramping. I put on 5 lbs when I started using it but then that dropped. I never had a cramping problem with it. I still use it 2-3 times a week but in very low quanities (not sure it really helps or not using so little). I am using the GNC MRP protein which has it and it also has glutamine. I use it after workouts to replace protien as I am losing weight.

I just mix creatine in two shakes a day, 10 grams total, a lot of people say 5 grams is good but i feel like working out three times a day that 10 grams is perfect. I have had no bad results with cramping or weight gain and my strength is on the rise.

Does anybody know if taking creatine will reduce your bodies ability to produce it?

Any other perspectives on dosage? I just listened to a crosfit live show that spoke well of it and got some.

If you use creatine heavily, most people cycle it. Typical use as far as I know starts with a loading stage, a maintenance stage and rest from it.

I just go by what I've heard from Robb. No load phase, 5g a day, and probably a good thing to cycle on and off.

The Soviets developed creatine in 1962. No adverse side affects. Does not inhibit the bodies ability to produce. No loading necessary.
