Since I want to practice OH Squats at home and work on form, I figure I should simulate the actual lift even better by making sure I don't hold my arms too wide. I'm tall with some orangutan arms so I figure I should work on doing it with my hands all the way at the collars? Does anyone happen to know how wide this is on a standard olympic barbell?

There's lots of different rules of thumb- but it should be the same grip you snatch with. So, a few of the common ones are the narrowest grip you can do a dislocate with a broomstick, wide enough so that it fits in the fold of your hip in the hang, the distance from one hand to the other elbow, whatever puts it 5-9" above your head- take your pick.

If you are well over 6', just go collar to collar. That's 51.5 inches.

Thanks lincoln.

I'm 6'3" and my armspan is 6'7" so I just really want to make sure I don't go past the collar to collar width when I practice on with a broomstick.

Even if I don't go collar-to-collar, my hands tend to slip out there (even with chalk) when I do heavy OH movements - the physics just push them out there even though it isn't required, as I can dislocate with a narrower grip. Should I concentrate on keeping my hands from slipping in addition to locking out those elbows?

Don't go too wide with your grip.
