Re: 2017 CrossFit Open, Regionals and Games Thread
If you dig a little deeper into this guy, it just gets worse and worse. In 40-44 division, he goes from 3,048th to SECOND in just two years, and then (at first pass) winning this year?? PED questions, big time (esp. if you look at him)
He qualifies as an individual in 2016, doesn't go, but does the Masters qualifiers. Out of the nine workouts he does in 2016, his finishes were 6-2-1-39-10-19-2-14, and...... wait for it......142nd! Guess which of those nine scores he had to send in a video for? So, his reputation as an honest competitor is one thing, but then if you dig into his professional reputation, it gets WAY sketchy. His (varied and multi-named) business reviews on Yelp paint a very dicey picture. Bait and switch schemes, overpriced treatment....man, it's just not good at all. |
Re: 2017 CrossFit Open, Regionals and Games Thread
Crazy for sure. I was thinking this year this dude is killing the Masters. .. heck killing Nor Cal pro's also. Wes P Games guy was questioning his path for the past 7 years if this guy killed him.
Sure PED's and cheating. They might go hand in hand. Would like to see his videos. Guy is going to hit the 45-49 class in 4 years. HEHE.. sure he is out of x fit. Dam masters.. |
Re: 2017 CrossFit Open, Regionals and Games Thread
Yah, I follow his smashwerx stuff on Youtube and IG. He is wicked lean. When I heard he got banned I thought it was PEDs for sure.
I have been CF since mid-2009 and his scores were crushing mine........I guess not really. The other piece is that most of his stuff is "borrowed" from what mobilitywod once was prior to Starrett going mostly dark. I believe he is a chiropractor as a living. This is gonna kill him. I do not know the guy at all so who in the hell knows what he was thinking or what the actual truth is. But looping a video ? poor taste. |

Check it out. Watch for his hips when he picks up the truster bar and I believe it looks a little crazy when he grabs or drops the rope. Some people are saying its just the handles. But what an edit job. Glad that they did not need me to judge it.. would have passed right by my naked eye. Crazy.. he's done! |
Re: 2017 CrossFit Open, Regionals and Games Thread
Vic, I saw that as well. There is no sound on the video so not sure about the rope. But once I read the stuff below I noticed it plain as day the edit when he bends down to pick the bar up. I am sure the CF Games people noticed it immediately.

Re: 2017 CrossFit Open, Regionals and Games Thread
He does the same double dip picking up the rope too, or handles.

Re: 2017 CrossFit Open, Regionals and Games Thread
I wondered if it would be possible to edit a video to cheat rounds like that. He doesn't follow the rules that a running clock and a second person need to be in the frame, both things that make cheating a video more difficult.

Re: 2017 CrossFit Open, Regionals and Games Thread
Not to mention all his IG videos are lit great and have perfect quality. Then he uploads this video from a mile away, dark and super grainy. So obvious.

Re: 2017 CrossFit Open, Regionals and Games Thread
Let's not forget: it was the 17.3 video (which was a simple workout) that had something so suspicious in it, that they requested the 17.5 video. I want to see the 17.3 video.
And to boot, knowing he now has two videos with issues, it calls into questions every single one of his scores. As I posted above, his 142nd finish (that's nearly bottom 25%!) could lead someone to think, this guy is a bottom 25% athlete, not a top 5% guy, and then you're talking about a LOT of people he bumped out of Regionals/qualifiers. |
Re: 2017 CrossFit Open, Regionals and Games Thread
Clearly he is a strong dude with a fit build. He's not a lazy, fat couch sitter. It's a shame he didn't use his abilities within the rules of competition.
