Odd question about external rotation.
 
Hi, this might sound strange... There is an exercise that's often recommended for one of the Rotator Cuff muscles, it's an external rotation with your humerous parallel to the floor. If you do both arms at the same time, both humerous would form a straight line with one another. My question is: while performing this one, should you actively try to push your shoulderblades together? Or should you try to actually increase the distance between your shoulders (or elbows, for that matter). I hope Steven Low reads this one :D

Doesn't matter.

Scapular retraction is not a requirement for working (mostly) the infraspinatus with the arm abducted 90 degrees. Arm next to side works teres minor a bit more than infraspinatus.

Although if your horizontal pulling is weak it may be a good idea to work scapular retraction separately through any type of rowing (except upright rows)
