Help! Dips & Weird Injury
I'm posting b/c I'm at a loss for what's going on and wanted to see if anyone else has experienced anything similar.

Anytime I do more than a few dips, my right pec gets strained. This is decidedly a muscle injury, not a joint injury (not in my shoulder at all), and it is exclusively on my right side. It also only happens with dips or other movements that involve some range of motion similar to dips (for example, doing ring supports for extended periods can cause the same issue, but not as severe). It's also not really a strength issue, I don't think. I can pump out 10-15 dips (bar, not ring), and again, it's only on my right side. The strain is toward the upper part of the pec.

Normally it's a nuisance for 12-24 hours. For example, yesterday at the end of a workout I had a circuit that had push presses and ring dips in it. Did the push presses no problem. Got the first round of ring dips, but felt the pec by the end. Went back to the push presses and had to quit b/c of the strain. 12 hours later, feels basically fine.

Anyone have any ideas on what could cause this? It's not like there is something to mobilize (or is there?) I'm tired of having to avoid dips like the plague. For reference, here's a quick video of a single dip...I feel like form looks decent enough: (WFS)

Re: Help! Dips & Weird Injury
Quite possibly a slight tear or muscle strain.

Has this been a longstanding problem?

PM Steven Low or on FB. He's rarely on here but he might have some good insight.

Longstanding for at least the last 4 months. Didn't really do many/any dips before that, so who knows beyond that.

How can I find Steven Low on facebook?

Have you tried smashing your pec with a lacrosse ball or softball?

search for Steven Low on FB. He's on my friend's list.

You can find him on EatMoveImprove or the Reddit forum for OvercomingGravity.

@Phil I haven't tried smashing it with the lacrosse ball, although that's next on my list. Just seems like a weird thing to have to smash. Can't hurt, though, right?
