Plates getting stuck on one end of an Oly bar: solution?

A few of my weights are getting stuck on one end of an Oly bar.

What is the best way of getting them to slide back on and off?

The inside of the weights appear to be a softish metal, so I'm thinking that the solution probably lies there, but the real culprit is the bar, so I'm not sure.

I don't want to try to sand back the bar only to find that I've made the problem worse...

Any help appreciated.

Specify what weights you have.

I have the same problem with a few of my plates. They are old school bumpers and I have never been able to determine who they are made by. I found that the plates went on one end of the bar much easier than the other end. I tried to do some sanding but it wasnt helping too much. I ended up marking the plates and the bar so I knew which plates to load onto which side of the the bar.

Hope that helps some.

Thanks Nick.

Ardi, the plates are your standard issue Buffalo sports rubber weights with an almost lead like in colour metal insert.
