"Tougher Than Crossfit" - Army Times

The article wasn't as horrible as the title might suggest. It gave a reasonably informed comparison of CrossFit/Gym Jones/SEALFIT. It also explained the background of Gym Jones and SEALFIT relatively in depth.

Still though I think the author missed the boat. They're all derivatives of CrossFit in the end.

Service-members, and the Army as a whole, need get on board with CrossFit before making things complicated. Not to mention Gym Jones is invite only. I've been to numerous bases and units and the majority of soldiers are still wasting their time in the gym with borderline useless exercises.

Would post an excerpt of the article but don't have access to a scanner/time to type it.

edit: see next post for link

Seen the headline on the cover of Marine Corps Times as well. Didn't pick it up though. Did they mention Gym Jones was a CrossFit affiliate at one point? Other CF affiliates have gone to Gym Jones seminars and noticed the staff, including Mark Twight himself have bashed CrossFit. Not a big fan of Gym Jones, but they do have some tough athletes there.

whats the difference. technically crossfit can be anything due to the fact that different affiliates program differently. so can't you kind of say gym jones would be similar to just another affiliates programing?

I'd agree completely. The article only referred to HQ's programming and mentioned an Army leader going to Gym Jones because he was willing to change programming to be goal oriented versus CFHQ trying to change individuals for CrossFit. This was according to the article.

What an uninformed comment.

Your comment might actually be more useless than his. His will spark a debate which will lead to some enlightenment. Yours stops short of sharing anything useful and simply implies you know it all.

Can you substantiate this, or is it just pure libelous gossip on your part?
