I too won't be missing Bridges. He is just too small to ever win it and it always shows once they get to workouts that require moving serious weight.

If you didn't watch California's last heat of men's event 7, go back and watch it.

Dan Bailey was swinging like crazy for nearly all the muscle ups.

The whole row of men came off the rings at the same time. All 10 finished with 14 seconds of each other. That was a crazy race!

Re: Bridges. I prefer many over him. I was specifically watching how Bridges would react to his Invictus partner Andersen's struggling to complete the HSPU in event 6. Bridges was done and I wondered if Bridges would get in Andersen's face to get him moving. He didn't. He sat on a block and was talking with Bailey. Towards the end Bridges got up and got the crowd into it but that was about it. Andersen was pretty much HSPUing himself out of a games spot at that point. I don't know why I care. I guess I figured the Sea of Green was a tight group. On a similar but unrelated note, Lauren Fisher was gracious, smiling and waving throughout.

I don't care what anyone, any gym owner, any box mentality, community person says. At the highest levels of competition, with a significantly increasing amount of prize money on the line and the global attention and sponsorship's that come with being one of the best and the ability to offset the sacrifice and commitment of being a top level athlete and chance to almost set up your family, your own business (box), well.. this tight group thing. It will take a back seat.

Do you personally know how Andersen likes to be motivated in a workout? My guess is that you don't. There are plenty of athletes I know who actually dislike when people, especially people they know, get in their face trying to "motivate" them in a hard workout. It might be only 10% of the athletes that feel that way, but it's entirely possible Andersen is one of them and Bridges is respecting that.

Just another point of view.

This.

I know lots of people think it's super encouraging to have people cheering for you, regardless of when you finish a wod and at a local gym, that's awesome. I can't help but think as a regional/games level athlete, knowing other athletes are cheering for you is just a reminder that others finished before you. I think it would bug me.

It's also going around that Bridges isn't with Invictus anymore. Among other things, CJ left him off his list of Invictus Athletes going to regionals on a recent blog post.

I totally get that. My wife cant stand that motivation stuff. I certainly did not mean to start a war or anything, just an observation I made. It certainly is a reminder you are the last one still working.

With regard to CF competitions that sort of thing almost seems expected these days. By the spectators anyway. Or at least it would be odd if it did not happen

^^ This. Can't stand this. Get out of my face and let me work. You may think you're doing this for me but if I had the time, I'd do a "This is Sparta kick." I'm just very picky about personal space. Usually I tell people to go away or give me my space though but I really hate it when somebody does this.
