I've noticed that the heads of my legs, the area right above my knee's seems to be on the weaker side. when i squat this area becomes very tight and pumped. Also my hip flexors seem to be another weak area.

What exercises could i do to specifically strengthen these areas? Conventional Dl's seem to get my quad heads however i havent been able to do them for awhile due to an injury. hip flexors have always been a problem. Step-up box squats maybe?

How about front squats or pistols?

I've heard hack squats reccomended for targeting the quadricep right above the knee.

I think front squats are the best thing for srtengthening that teardrop head of the quad. However I suggest that if you are feeling your back squats there, then the back squat is going to strengthen that area.

For hip flexors, there are many gymnastics type exercises that are going to help, for example knees-to-elbows style hanging kneeups.
