Besides the heavy lifting, something as simple as "Cindy" would be awesome in the Open.

There is no way the Open is going to have 225# squat cleans. Crikey.

Why not ? There was 210# snatches programmed two years in a row.

So far the heaviest clean has been 165#. I am much more adept with cleans so I would be just fine with it.

Last year the whole season was heavy on snatch/OHS. They were in the Open, at Regionals and at the Games twice.

I could see them doing a workout that involved either or both snatch or C&J starting 95/135ish then going up to heavy with some other lung burner in between.

Maybe burpee over the bar and c&j for 17 min..
95,155, 185 then drop the hammer 230#

We will see in a few weeks... I think that it will be heavy or a chance to go heavy with some of the workouts.. might throw a hero workout or a girl in also.. They are free to move anyway they please. I can see HSPU, pistols, hs walks etc.. in the open. And I can see 3 unders in Regionals and games.

Be ready for anything..

I am sure that 1 out of 5 will be a repeat just to see how the athletes are progressing in 2015.

After looking at the wods in the Team Series and comparing RX to scaled, I think the 2015 Open is going to be similar in load and difficulty to previous years opens.

I think we will see a repeat.

CFHQ seems to really like the deadlift/box jump couplet, and the thruster/pull up couplet, so I would not be suprised to see those pairings.

Then, I think they will through in a couplet or triplet that hasn't been done in the Open before, like the OHS+TTB couplet that was in the Team Series.

I hope they have the live Open announcements like they had last year. That was fun to watch, and it looked like the people who were there live had a good time.

Maybe it will BUILD up to that, in some kind of ladder, but it's not going to be just some couplet or triplet with 225# squat cleans. I'm fairly strong (at 41) and have all of the basic movements, including MU, but 225# is damn near my 1RM. Doing that for reps is elite level.

I think with there being a scaled division we are going to see a clear difference in weight for the RX division.

Castro and company are going to split the groups early making sure that we take the decision to go either RX or scaled.

To split the group early all they need to do is program muscle up's in 15.1 and the game will be set.

I would like to see a classic FRAN or Grace but with added muscle ups.
Should we have another official thread this year? All right! Let's do this!

In the last few years I've enjoyed having one place to discuss, ask questions, speculate, and recap the Games season competition. Welcome aboard. Let's see what happens this year.

http://games.crossfit.com/article/whats-new-2015 (wfs)

There are some significant changes this year:
- super Regionals
- scaled division
- teenage division
- state and country champions.

I have been a friend and followed Nick Fory's efforts to qualify for the Games from the Central East region. I don't think the super-Regional competition will work in his favor.

I wonder if the scaled division means that the Rx division will have more difficult work outs. " If you cannot get one rep of the prescribed version of the workout, or simply find the scaled workout more appropriate for you, you’ll be able to opt for scaled."

I'm guessing there will be prize money for the state and country champs.
With the RX and scaled version, I can see 225 cleans for reps happening. Think about it, they have said the RX division is designed for people who can make it to regionals in terms of strength levels/skill levels, and who have a shot of going to the Games, if you can't do more than 225 clean you're not likely to go to the games (men's open division)

I am torn about the whole RX and scaled thing, on the one hand I think its cool that we get to see the top athletes get challenged sooner and etc, and it also gives the people who aren't on that level a chance to do well...ON THE OTHER HAND I think it takes away a big draw to the games which is that avg joe can see exactly how he compares to Jason Khalipa or Rich Froning in the same workout, I think it helps people relate.

If they make RX too hard for "advanced" CFers, it will suck and take all the fun out of it IMO.
I've worked hard to get to my level (beyond intermediate but not elite), if I had to compete in the scaled division it would take all the satisfaction out of it. Sure, I'll never make it to games or regionals, but I've worked hard to get to this level. Competing with beginners is no fun. Hopefully they'll strike a balance. My 2 cents and mini-rant.
