I'm convinced we're going to see handstand walks this year. Similar to how they did the overhead lunges last year. They kind of setup the model in terms of how to structure it with that less technical movement. HS walks have been a huge part of Regionals and the Games the last few years, I could see them being in the Open now. Not sure what the scaled option for that would be though.
I could see this. The Granite Games had them for intermediate athletes in the teams of 3, so did Wodapolooza. Also I sense that 17.1 and 17.2 will be done week 1. Two wods the first week.

2014 Masters Games did hs walk for max distance. They had the older masters do walking overhead lunges with a d ball for scale. Kinda of weird to see 40+ guys not being able to do it.. OPT got no score and 2016 champ Ron M 45+ got 12' but strangely they gave him 120'.
This seems a bit of a lop-sided match?
I think some of the big time athletes are being more selective on what they do outside of their normal course of training, whether it's open announcements or the demise of the East Coast Comp. So Crossfit gets to/has to expand the pool of folks from which to draw their open announcement competitors. I wonder if these start becoming (or have already become) paid appearances for the athletes.

This might be the end of the elite at the announcements. I hope Ro & Boz take it over. Bring normal people closer to them and the results.

Sorry to say its no fun watching a mismatch or people that we have never heard of.

I don't think we have seen the last of the dumbells yet. I think they are going to turn up once again.

Why..... i don't think Dave Castro would tell everyone to get 22kg and 15kg dumbells just to use them for 20min

Re: 2017 CrossFit Open, Regionals and Games Thread

Question about movement standards, specifically for Scaled. For box step overs...do both feet have to touch on top? Seems like no, if they're technically allowed to jump completely over, but step ups in the judges course said both feet touch, but this is a step over not a step up...so I'm just going around in circles.

Hate the ambiguity of this sometimes. Don't want to make my athletes do anything that isn't required, but also don't want to give them an unfair advantage if I'm wrong. Has anyone seen an official response from CFHQ on this one?
