2011 Games Event 1 (Beach Murph)

Men

Women

(both wfs)

They ran one heat with all the men, and another heat with all the women. The rep scheme was not broken up. They did all the pull-ups, then moved on to a mat station where they did all the push-up reps to completion, and then stayed on the mat to do all their squat reps to completion. This provided some spectator reference to how far the athletes were progressing through the workout, but not to the level of later years with numbers marked on the ground, and moving station to station.

Pretty cool event. Because it's been done this way already, I'm thinking the 2015 Murph will not be at the beach.

I think they will do Murph in the soccer stadium where they have to run up the stairs and up over the berm and down the stairs.

All while carrying an athlete of the opposite sex.

Going to be brutal for the woman who gets the 225lb guy..

I'm sure they will use the soccer stadium with the track, and it will be done as the original workout states. I agree with the other posts, you change ONE SINGLE element and it's not Murph.

Just like "Randy" at regionals isn't really Randy when you add in some sprints to start and finish the events.

Snatch Speed Ladder just screams severe injuries to me.

Yea for the normal dude (or even "thinks they are badass") at your average Crossfit gym. That is where the problems will come in. A handful of people that are elite at their gym will suddenly get stars in their eyes. They will think "if they can, I can, I mean we do the same Crossfit thing, they have a box, I have a box, etc.". Then they will try it out and something will happen.

Not sayin' it can't happen at the games but we are talking about a) elite athletes, among the best in the world and b) something like 1/2 a million dollars on the line...Par for the course in a sense.

With that much weight going over head and that much money on the line, I could see even elite Crossfitters getting hurt doing a speed snatch ladder. Not to mention, what happens if barbells going flying into a competitor on a miss.

No kidding. Remember when Khalipa launched his barbell across the arena floor during Amanda in 2010?
