View Full Version : hand injury?

I was doing box jumps back in May and my feet went out from under me launching me into the air (30in. box) and I came down on my right hand (it was very comical). It hurt initially and I took it easy for a week or so with the hand. I felt it doing cleans and presses most when weight rested on the my fingers or palms of my hand. Thus, I compensated by heavily taping my wrist and hand for support which definitely alleviated pain and discomfort as the pain has never truly gone away.

Recently, when squat cleaning, I didn't get my elbows around fast enough and the bar got caught while dropping into a the squat and torqued my hand further. That was nearly a month ago and have researched and read and practiced ways to get a better rack position. To make a longer story short, it still hurts like crazy and I am coming here looking for advice on what to do.

I have always had some problems with the rack due to a previously hand injury on my left hand that doesn't allow my to open my pinky finger to rest the bar on my finger tips forcing me to try to rack while gripping the bar with closed fingers.

I would appreciate any advice on my right hand and ways to remediate the pain and discomfort while cleaning, pressing, and front squatting and also to get in a better rack position with the limitation in my left hand.

thanks!

I have recently had a similar injury to my right hand. The back of the hand was torqued on a missed jerk and I have pain at the base of my thumb and index finger during cleans and snatch-grip overhead exercises.

What did you do to get this better?? How long did it take?? I have been taking the time to work on squat and deadlift/pull strength. Thanks!!

You've injured your hand and it hurts for more than a month..... get it checked out by an orthopedic doc. Hand specialist prefably

I would love to, but I don't have insurance and not enough money to go to a doc. I'm finishing up my last semester of law school and money is very tight. It's not been a month, only about two weeks.

I was talking about the OP.

Where does your hurt? (google marked picture)? What exercises hurt?

What have you done to rehab?

Sorry, misunderstood you. I'm not good with pictures, but it hurts at the "V" where the base of the thumb and index finger come together. Exercises that hurt are any snatch-grip related overhead and the racked clean/front squat position.

I haven't done much to rehab except ice and some ibuprofen every so often (not much because I don't beleive in drugs so much).

Tecnically, you shouild be seeing a med professional if you have pain for >4-5 days and it hasnt gone away.

It hurts at the metacarpal heads where? Dorsal surface? Snuff box? Palmar surface?

Or does it hurt more in the scaphoid region?

Need waaaaaaaaaaaay more information
