Participating in the crossfit program for about a month now, I have come to the conclusion I have ignored the main tip for starters. I have always been too enthousiastic when starting something new, and mostly felt the consequences. This is also the issue here with crossfit.
My lower back hurts and every fibre of my muscle hurts every second of the day. This muscle pain would be a good thing if it didn't obstruct me in following the WOD's.
So I guess I will have to back off a little and lower my sets, reps and loads, whether I like it or not.
Life can be cruel sometimes.

It's OK to dig too deep occasionaly, as long as you notice the signs and let yourself recover. If you continue the pattern (push too hard until forced to back off) however, you will notice that other people progress faster who "don't try as hard". The best progress seems to come when some of the workouts take the form of active recovery - you do the workout but not at full intensity.

In other words; learn to like it ;)
