2014 Open surprises and who is underperforming?

Chris Dozois from the South West last year killed the open. Wonder if he is injured? Rasmus Anderson a transplant from Europe who is just 21 is killing it in Southern Cali. Andrea A not as high as I thought moving out of Southern Cali.. Who in your mind is under or over?

The open is just like reg season baseball, it really doesn't matter to games athletes. Regionals is basically the playoffs, you win or go home, games athletes are training for regionals during the open. There are still way too many scores still to be weighed in the open. But, as it it stands I am really surprised Camille redid 14.2 and destroyed her hands like that. Makes me respect her competitive spirit a lot more. I thought Spealler would absolutely destroy 14.1 and 14.2. He has some of the best double unders I have ever seen, and his pull ups are ridiculous. Other than that, all the names you would expect are up near the top. I am willing to bet money that Danielle Sidell destroys the competition at the Central East regionals.

Yep. She came to our gym for a photo shoot, she's a beast!

This means nothing but......both Lucas Parker and Tyson Takasaki are currently 30-40 in Canada West, both were at the games last year. I know Tyson had the flu for 14.1 so that explains his score (he promptly tallied 325 on 14.2). Not sure about Lucas but likely just off to a slower start. I am 100% sure they will both easily qualify for Regionals.

I wouldn't put much stock in anything as all the Open specialists will get smoked when the big weights come out at Regionals (this would include me)

There is a $2014 prize for the best male and female score for each Open wod. So that may have played a part in her decision.

I highly doubt it. She's got plenty of sponsors and I believe owns a gym. She's a competitor, I assume she was likely not happy with her score of 272 and knew she could do much better.

Barto just straight up not participating was a shock for me.

I have to think that, even though these are the elite level competitors, they can't take anything for granted. I think CL-B redid because you just never know what subsequent workouts will hold, and she knew she fell way short of her potential on the first run. 100+ more reps is a ton of places on the leaderboard and buys you a nice cushion for the rest of the Open.

That was shocking, even more shocking are his Olympic lifting numbers. He snatches 300+ and his C&J is somewhere around 375-385.

being 6'5" and 220 Aja Barto I feel knows he can excel more in Olympic Lifting with his huge strength numbers. Yes he is a beast and has been to the games, but no matter how you look at it, the gymnastic movements are not in his favor. and even Lifting things overhead for time is not condusive. Lifting for 1-3 maxes is his Strength
