Re: Transgender Games Competitor?

I don't understand how she thinks she is entitled to $2.5 million. If she won the Games 10 times, maybe, but based on the numbers on her profile on the games website, I'm not sure she would qualify for Regionals. Probably, but maybe not.

it doesn't really matters. She is probably hoping for a settlement and for CF to just pay her instead of going to trial.

Re: Transgender Games Competitor?

Looking at the scores in 2013.. no chance for Regionals. So might be a mute point with her.

But setting a precedence could be a slipper slope. If they let her in this time.. then some of the other crazy cross fitters might do the same thing.

Looks like a money ploy or an attorney just needs some work and has no other cases to work. $2.5 million is a crazy number.

Hope a judge does the right thing.

Re: Transgender Games Competitor?

If she's legally recognised as female she should be allowed to compete as one.

I concur. It doesn't matter that she was born a man. There are plenty of women stronger than men.....So, the "advantage" argument is somewhat invalid.

But, I do think that it is a publicicty stunt aimed at getting the athlete some limelight and some pocket change, if a settlement is given or trial is won.

It will taint the sport a little regardless of the outcome. Just my 2 cent.

It's an arbitrary number and one that was likely assigned to be negotiated down as a settlement.

While they are likely hoping for a settlement, I'd say that they didn't perform their due diligence on CrossFit, as settling is not something that HQ has ever seemed keen on and they fight tooth and nail to protect their brand.

If you were born a man, you're always a man. If you were born a woman, you're always a woman. Cutting off your bits or adding on some accessories can let you socially identify as the opposite gender, but your sex is what you were born with.

Gender identification is social, sex is biological. Changing your social identification does not change your biological orientation. In a test of the fittest man and woman in the world, that distinction needs to be based on sex, not gender.

Re: Transgender Games Competitor?

If I now became a woman, I would not lose all the gains I made as a man. cfhq is right on this.

Re: Transgender Games Competitor?

My question is if they allowed her to compete as a woman because she had the surgery and has been on hormone therapy for quite a number of years would there be some sort of time required. In other words could a man who had the surgery a year ago and started taking hormones 6 months ago be allowed to compete as a woman? Clearly that individual would have a major advantage over other women.

Just a thought as I am not really familiar with how the hormone therapy works.

Re: Transgender Games Competitor?

If you have to compete as the gender you born as, can a female to male transgender person compete in the women's division?

Re: Transgender Games Competitor?

What does her DNA classify her as? If she comes up with XX chromosomes, then complete as a female; If she comes up XY, complete as a male.
