Right side neck pain

I did strict press today for the first time in a while.

I did 3x5 @ 115LBs /52.2 KG

I began feeling the tweak pretty quickly after.
I feel it the most when I lean my head to the left.
I feel it in my right trap/neck area.
Also I feel pain if I put my chin to my sternum and roll my head to the right.
It starts when my head gets about to my right shoulder and continues until my head get past my left shoulder in rotation.

I hope that is clear sorry if it is not.

I know it's not a serious injury just wondered if anyone has any recommendations for how to treat it.

Here is one of the sets from today(WFS)

Thanks in advance for any input

Re: Right side neck pain

How do you know it's not a serious injury? At some point, when someone has pain for 20+ years....it has to start sometime.

I'm not saying it is, or is not. Just that that kind of thinking and failure to address it properly often leads to bigger issues.

It could be a simple strain. Ice, rest, self release. If not improving in 3 days, I'd look to a DC or PT for help.

Brian first off thanks for your response. Also, your right, I guess I don't know it is not a serious injury. That was a naive thing to say.

I should have said that it doesn't feel too serious. One that might heal itself in time.

But yes I have begun the ice phase and already did some work with a lacrosse ball. But I had a hard time finding specific neck drills. So I just kind of put the ball between my trap and clavicle and braced against a wall and started working around. It gave some relief but hoping I could pick up some other tips.

I've been planning on going to a new DC this just might be the bump I need to do it
