Garage gym finally ready for use

I'm still just planning to use it as a supplement to going to my box for now, but here's the initial items that I have & a few pics.

Rogue R3 w/Matador dip station
Rogue Ohio Bar black on black zinc
210lb Pendlay Elite competition plate set
140lb additional various bumper plates
5lb & 2.5lb steel plates
2 1/4" Olympic platform w/Oak center board
Rogue S25E Fat Boy sled
60lb weight vest
500lb tractor tire (sits in the driveway for now covered in snow)
16lb sledge hammer
Stackable plyo boxes 8", 10" & 12"

To do list (no particular order):
Add lifting platform wood under rig to avoid stepping down from existing platform
Insulate side walls & add a heater (it's fricking freezing in Ohio, Mr. Bigglesworth)
Adjustable utility bench
Concept 2 Rower
35-70lb kettlebells
Add timer/clock (or mount a tablet on the wall)

Most of it is just waiting on money, but some of it can be done quick & easy with just a little bit of time & effort.

Nice setup!

Extending your platform into the rack would be on my short list, but after that I'd say take your time and search for deals.

Yeah that's something I plan to do within the next week or two. Just have to buy & finish more plywood. Without a truck, it's tough to get it back to my house without inconveniencing my roommate.

Looks sweet. What did you finish your platform with? I just build my gym and use an oak platform. It is raw now but I will finish it with something one of these days.

I used oak too. I put three coats of Minwax stain, and then two coats of clear satin polyurethane on top of that. It's not slippery at all.

I have a similar setup to yours with the R3 up against my lifting platform. I've found that the step down hasn't been a problem. If I'm using the power rack for squats, I'm completely inside the cage. If I want to use the rack for an occassional bench press, I built a small movable platform equal to the height of the lifting platform that I can set the bench on. When I'm ouside of the cage working on overhead presses--I never have to step down to lift off the bar.

I just wanted to throw that out there as it might save you some trouble.

Thanks for the feedback, Chris. I only really notice it (so far) when I'm pulling the bar from the rack and on to the platform. I think it's something I would still like to do, but the more I've used it, the less of an immediate priority it's become. I still need to get a bench before I need to worry about setting up for that. I've been keeping an eye on out Craigslist, but so far no dice.

Re: Garage gym finally ready for use

I managed to find a GHD on Craigslist for only $125 and picked that up today. Also did my Level 1 cert class over the weekend at Rogue & they offered some deals for all participants, so I took advantage of that & picked up some kettlebells (35, 44, 53 & 70lb). All that's left (for now) is a rower and a bench.

Re: Garage gym finally ready for use

Looks amazing, keep finding those deals! I'm doing me L1 this weekend in Denver. I'm very nervous having never trained outside my garage.
