"The Seven" WOD

Brutal WOD. Did it as prescribed...35 min cut off at our Box, I completed 6 rounds and was starting the 7th with a minute or so to go and my calves cramped up so that was it for me.

Anyone else done this one?

All in all, one of the toughest (top 3 for sure) I've done thus far. If you're looking for a challenge, hit it up.

That is pretty tough WOD. That was one of the first I did when starting CrossFit. I forgot what I did it in, but I agree with you. I would still rank Kalsu numero uno tho.

Re: "The Seven" WOD

Have not done Kalsu...not sure I want to! Have done some variations of it and it was a brutal combination.

Re: "The Seven" WOD

Yea, the thrusters are just murder aren't they ?

I've done this twice. I have to mod the HSPU otherwise it'd literally take me 49 minutes to do just the HSPU.
The first time (Dec '11) and took me 49 minutes (did negatives for HSPU).

The second time, (Sep '12) did it FGB style. You had 40s to do each round so total wod time is 32:40 . You move on if you haven't finished, or, get some rest if you finish in good time
e.g. Takes about 10s to do the K2E so you rest 30s each time. But if you only get 3 thrusters in 40s, then you only get 3 and move on.
It started off nice and sedate, and then all of a sudden round 4 hits and you wonder wtf just happened.
It was a real interesting take - there were some rounds where I'd just do 1 or 2 thrusters or burpees or something and then rest.
I think I'd prefer to go all the way through .... but the FGB way is certainly god for a large class setting and to ensure we get in and get out. It was just a different type of mind-furg.

Score was amount of reps. I scored 308/343 reps
(HSPU mod was 1 HSPU then 6 pike for that round).

Re: "The Seven" WOD

Yes, the Thrusters were the worst part. Got them 4 and 3 first rd then 3-2-2 for the next 5 rounds. I tried to take short pauses in between when I the put the bar down.

On the HSPU's, I got a good kip going and got them pretty much unbroken each rd except where I just came off the wall. The burpee pace slowed a lot in rd 5 and 6. DL's unbroken, PU's unbroken, KBs as well.

I had a 4:20 to 4:30 pace per round through about the 4th then my pace tailed off pretty bad in rd 5 and 6.

Re: "The Seven" WOD

And to your one point, I vividly remember looking at one of the other guys right after rd 2 and saying "holy ****, 5 more to go?"

Re: "The Seven" WOD

well all Hero WODs are suppose to be harder than "normal"... and this one is for 7 Heros not just one, so it makes sense it is one of the hardest of the hard. but yes, it is intense. stuff like this should be done seldom, not often.

Re: "The Seven" WOD

Agreed Andrew. 135 for Thrusters was pretty much new territory for me but for a Hero, it's supposed to be that way so I went with it.

And I agree, Hero WOD's like this one should not be done often unless you want to just beat yourself up and get injured.

Re: "The Seven" WOD

Definitely one of the toughest WODs around!! I don't recall my time but I was gassed afterwards......Thrusters after HSPUs were brutal.
I rank it in the top five. I'd put Hidalgo as #1.
