Leila's CFCC Log

I'm starting up my log here - I've been logging since my very first day at CFCC back in June 2011, but I figure I'll see how this format works for me.

Current goals - set for September 30, 2012, we'll see how we do...

Back squat – 86 kg / 190 lbs – current max 178 ish lbs (81 kg)

Clean – 63 kg / bodyweight more or less – current max 123 lbs (55.7 kg)

Snatch 43 kg (95 lbs) – current max 39 kg

Set of 10 pushups

Right now the only day I've been in the gym this week was Tuesday. My neck is incredibly tight and pretty painful right now - like I slept on it wrong only WAY worse than this has ever happened before. It was slightly bothering me before the headstands on Tuesday, so I'm not sure what I did, but I don't think it was headstands. Either it was napping on the couch or maybe something with the clean and jerk on Saturday?

Tuesday 7/24

Dumbbell Press – 2ื15, 2ื20, 1ื25, 1ื27.5, 1ื30, 1ื32.5 (PR!) , 1ื35 – made on RIGHT arm, failed on left

Strange that I made this on my weak arm. My neck and trap on the right side are super tight and painful since Sunday – I think from sleeping on the couch or from the jerk on Saturday – so I’m in a bunch of pain and the muscles feel like crap. I don’t know why this would help me lift MORE weight on that side, but whatever

Metcon – was supposed to be 3 rounds of 15 HSPU and 50 DU

I did 15 regular pushups and 150 singles – with 2 minute penalty at the start to practice DU. I can do them one at a time but can’t get a rhythm or string them together. In general I am terrible at the jump rope.

Saturday July 28 - Hybrid Oly

2x35 - bad reps - power snatching and coming forward
2x2x37 finally started squat snatching
4x1x39 - fails but was squating - just having trouble locking out at the top
1x35 - nice rep to end on

Clean

First day back since Tuesday - my neck feels more or less better. Also my right knee feeling kind of bad today, ugh. I ended up getting a decent day in anyways though.

The clean felt REALLY good today, but I had to cut it short for time. I'd like to test my max there soon because I think it is more than 55 these days.

Mon 7/30

I am feeling much better. I'm ready to start this new cycle filled with all of my favorite things!

Back Squat

3x85 lbs
3x115
3x135
3x150
3x160

Metcon: 3 rounds:

1 minute back squat (95lbs)
1 minute supinated pullups (LB)
30 sec jumping lunge
30 sec rest

Score: 51 - total back squats and pullups

The next weight up for the back squats was 135, which I probably could have done, for many fewer reps, but 95 was ok. I definitely should have gone with less band for the supinated pullups because these felt pretty easy.

In this cycle - go heavy, and rest more - if you don't mind, that is... it'll serve you well!

Tuesday 7/31 - 7am session

Pronated pullups
3xLB
4x3xMB

I seem to have regressed a little bit with pullups - I'm not sure if I still have a strict body weight pullup. This cycle should be good for improving those.

Metcon - 10 rounds of 30 sec work/30 sec rest - russian KB swings. 1.5PD as rx'd

Score: 135 reps

I got a migraine about an hour after today's workout. Fits with the pattern of when they've been cropping up in the last year or so, but I hadn't had one with aura since April. Booooo.

Wed 8/1 WHOA, it is August!

7am

Conventional Deadlift 5x113, 5x133, 4x5x153

Metcon - 5 rounds of 5 power cleans(93lbs), 5 pullup (MB), 5 burpees - 9:26

I ripped my hands yesterday on the heavy KB swings so pullups today felt not so good, but I actually kind of liked this workout. Rachel helpfully corrected me that I was pulling with my arms on the first set or two of the cleans (they felt very heavy, so this made sense) and once corrected the last few sets almost felt easier. I don't usually pull with my arms on cleans, but I think my mechanics break down a little bit when I'm told to power clean versus the regular squat clean that I have done 83843948 times. Also, fatigue.

Thurs 8/2

Strict press - 3x43, 3x48, 3x53, 3x58, 3x63, 3x68

This cycle I think I may actually break through that 72 lb PR plateau that I've been on forever for this lift.

Metcon - max set of HSPU (subbed regular pushups) followed by 15 hollow rocks - 7 rounds

Total 33. 8/5/3/4/4/4/5 - 8 is probably my best set ever of real, straight leg, chest-to-deck pushups. Finally making some progress with these!

That's awesome about the 8 push-ups! I think I'm going to 'borrow' your goal of a set of 10 push-ups for this cycle.

You were right there with me on pushups so I'm sure we can both make it to 10 pretty easily. They have just always been really difficult for me.
