Bumper Plate Sponsors for the 2008/09/10 Crossfit Games?
Assuming the bumpers that Crossfit used for the games from 08-10 (Never saw much video from 07, so I don't know how much they were dropped) were of superior quality, does anyone have any idea which company/what types of bumpers were sponsored? Upon checking the websites, it lists their sponsors, but a lot of the sponsors sell colored bumpers that look similar to the ones used in the games, so im really not sure...

The 2010 games used these bumpers http://www.roguefitness.com/rogue-fu...on-bumpers.php
You won't be able to get the custom wording on it, but other than that they are the same. |

08 and 09 used Kraiburg (sp?) I believe.

Yea, I think so, although I can't seem to find their website, which is odd. They were definitely used in the 09 games, I was watching a couple vids of the deadlift event, and in a few shots, you could see Kraiburg on the plates.

I'm not sure I'd make the assumption that just because a particular brand was used in competition, that they would be the best plates for everyday (ab)use.

Daniel are you looking to buy bumpers?
For every day training bumpers I'd go with Hi-temps. You may be able to get them directly, or you can go through Rogue, or Again Faster. They'll withstand lots of abuse and are much less expensive than competition bumpers. |

I think for one, with a competition bumper, you're paying more for the accuracy rather than quality. It costs a lot more to gurantee that a bumper is within +0.1/-0.05%.
With the 'everyday' bumper from Rogue/AF etc, the weight is not as critical. I'm not saying that one is definitely better than another, but don't automatically assume that price= longevity. |

Nalin is right.
The Hi-temp bumpers are definitely sturdier than the Kraibergs. (The colored Kraibergs do look cooler though) |
