Having never watched any other oly-lifting dvd's I can't give you any comparison but I did like it and I think it gives you all the basics one would need. A few parts are kind of cheesy/funny but overall great instructional content. Dan John has a way of making it seem simple, so that your not overthinking a movement/exercise.

I just recieved mine last night and watched it.
Allen's right, the way he teaches makes everything make sense, and seeing demonstrations really helped me. I can only speak for myself, and I liked it a lot. |

I am overly intellectual about everything and that totally screws me up because I can't think, analyze and evaluate what I'm doing while I'm doing it and that causes me to either dump my lift or never even get it off the ground well.
Watching FTGU once cured my snatch! The technical stuff is all explained for you and boiled down to three little words. (I heart Coach Dan John, so I won't be offering the spoiler here!) Anything that can get me out of my head is good medicine. And this is the best stuff out there! You'll not be disappointed. |

Don't know about the vid but the text of From the Ground Up is great. I've put it to good use.
Also, the appendix is a riot - would have loved to have worked out at PBBC. I was just glancing at it yesterday and it still gets me chuckling. |

I really love Coach Dan John's style of teaching/methodology. The mark of a true coach is being able to synthesize all the knowledge you have into as little words as possible while not leaving anything important out of the picture. He definitely does that and the added humor makes it even better.
A lot of academics like to complicate things by bringing in scholarly references and so on, but when it comes down to it, i'd rather have a coach like Dan yelling "Just lift the •••• bar!" than having some phD huff and puff at me about lever classifications, joint torque and maximizing your myosin heavy-chain expression. |

Heels Up Jump I have to thank Robb for doing the "stuff," too...he is a great guy. I still think of Robb every time I eat one of those whole chickens from the store... |
