Re: 2010 Games winner guessing

Mikko, Khalipa, Hackenbruck should all be in the mix. Ben Smith's lifting numbers are ridiculous. I think OPT will be in the mix. He's a champ and wouldn't be competing if he weren't ready.

I think there will be a few that are fairly consistent across the board but may not necessarily win an event. Ex. Peter Egyed, Matt Chan

I think Rob O still has a couple weaknesses (if you can call them that) that may leave him short of top 3. I think Speal will give it one hell of an inspiring effort, and it truly is amazing what he can do at his body weight, but all it takes is one pure strength event and he gets left behind. What would be interesting to see is scoring the 1RM lifts, or max O-lifts as a percentage of body weight. That would put him right back in the mix, and still keep the gorillas like Rob up at the top.

There are bound to be a few surprises, and many incredible performances.

My money is on Mikko. Not only does he have the numbers, his training volume has conditioned him so well for the amount of workload required on Games weekend. The most important factor where he leaves people behind is the humility, yet unwaivering confidence and simply not allowing a workout to get the best of him....ever.

More or less curious, but what has happened to Jeff Leonard? I haven't really heard anything about him since the games last year. He's a great olympic lifter, has great raw strength and has move his bodyweight around decently for such a big guy.

Your Men's Top 3 is very plausible. Spealler's been getting some strength this year so I'd love to see how this all goes down.

As to your Women's predictions, I'm surprised you don't have Tanya Wagner anywhere in there. Though to be honest, I think Annie's got a HUGE shot this year. She's my guess for #1.

Tanya's not competing as an individual this year. She and Josh are leading their boxes Affiliate Cup team. Apparently, Dave Castro said something to the effect that it's unlikely that you'll ever see an individual champion and team champion come out of the same box, so she's trying to prove him wrong by doing it in consecutive years.

I did not know that. I stand corrected. That's pretty cool! Thanks Christopher!
