Pull up bar/device

I am in desperate need of a different type of pull up bar.

I currently have the doorway type and I keep breaking the tops of the doorways.

I weight 200 lbs. and I guess that's too much for the doorway to handle.

Does anyone have any ideas what to do?

I would prefer something that does not require altering of walls (drilling holes and what not)

any advice is appreciated.

Re: Pull up bar/device

You have a couple of options, most of which will depend on your space and budget. If you cannot mount a bar, you will need something freestanding. The best option would probably be a power cage that has a pull-up bar attached. These can usually be found used on craigslist. Plus you can do countless other exercises with one. You could also use a freestanding pull-up/dip station. These are less expensive, but far less stable.
Hope that helps.
