how do you protect your legs from rope burn?

(don't just say to do legless rope climbs)

Will just any pants work well?
Will some pants still not protect against chafing?
Will some pants not be durable enough to withstand the wear and tear?

this is sort of a continuation of my previous thread: recommendation for workout pants

thanks!

I use BDU/ACU bottoms. They are durable and you can tie the strings on the bottom at the ankles to help keep them from riding up on your descent (I wrap the rope around my leg). You can get them at hunting stores or army/navy surplus stores.

Or - you can try not wrapping the rope around your leg.
I use the soles of my shoes (Nike Frees) to help grip the rope when I climb, and they make great "brakes" for descents.
otherwise, I'd say long "deadlift" socks would work for your lower legs and whatever shorts you normally wear would work for upper legs.

You could just change your bite and not wrap the rope around your leg. Otherwise I'd go for the BDU/ACU pants.
