I like it!

I toyed with the idea of making such an apparatus, but instead decided my downstairs neighbors can suck it up for the 15 minutes a week that I deadlift. I do have to be careful to lower under a lot of control, though.

I was doing that too and was worried about tweaking my back while trying to put the weight down too quietly.
